Another place on Moorea I want to tell everyone about is Snack Mahana. They had the best carpacchio, sashimi, tuna tartare and raw shrimp in coconut milk we ever had. It's in Papetoai just past the marina, lagoon side. We ate there 3 times and would have a 4th, but they ran out of fresh tuna. Really great food.

Hefara runs Snack Mahana and years ago she was the best bartender on Moorea at Club Bali Hai. I second Denver Joe's recommendation. The snack has a license to sell beer also.

another vote for Heifara and Snak Mahana!!!
Even if her food were not so great, I'd go there just to hear her magnificent Tahitian giggle!

Between the food and her giggle, this place is a must eat.

Yeah, I tipped her: I gave her big hugs, and I came back again and brought friends.

Years ago when she tended the bar at Club Bali Hai she loved to play tennis so we always brought her cans of tennis balls. It lowered the price of beer at the bar. Tip no but a gift yes

Ohhh Evan it is really a specialty in the Tuamotu's as there are just coconut plantations all over and they're pretty easy to find there.
The onces that come to Tahiti are often frozen and/or sold at times at the Papeete market
Preparation has to be done carefully, recently there were 2 very very severe intoxications due to them eating to wrong parts...
I'll try and think of a place but doubt there's one on Moorea or BB

I've had it at Aito's. It was a special on the menu last November.
