We will be arriving at PPT about 5:50 PM from Fakarava. Our plane to LAX departs at 10:00 PM. Say 4 hours in PPT airport.
The international check in lines can be pretty long, as I recall, though it's been a few years since I've been there.
Can anyone give me an update on eating facilities in the airport?
I would rather not leave the airport for food.
Thanks for any info.

cafe downstairs, open air and a buffet upstairs that is air conditioned.

But with 4 hours you could store you luggage outside and take a taxi to the nearest roulotte and have a much nicer meal. I believe there might be one in walking distance if you go towards the Intercontinental.

Last November, we flew in from Fakarava & had a slightly shorter time at Faaa. We ate at the cafe and I'd really suggest you eat anywherr else. For $20, we got 2 stale croissants with butter & a Coke. It was almost as bad as the airline food we got once we boarded!

LOL Old Wife! the upstairs resto is only open on Fri & Sat nights, food is horrible,
right across from the airport is a restaurant called "Ocean", you'd have to be back for your int'l flight 3 hrs prior to dep now.

Sounds like one should commission a jambon et fromage in Fakarava to go into ones carry-on.

Alternatively, the cafe in the Air Moorea terminal makes a decent croque monsieur

You know, it seems like you get in line 3 hours ahead of your departure but nothing much happens til about 1.5 hours before.

Well, you could check in 3 hours before, then walk across the main road to Ocean and still be back at the airport with an hour to spare....and since your luggage would already be checked, you would be unencumbered..... Reasonable plan?

The only problem with that is it takes 4 hours to check in.

THe check in is terrible at ATN. Check in first then go eat.
Ocean is descent Chinese food restaurant but I would stick to the basics there. I had a long flight home once after eating there.

Wannago,

If you don't want to leave the airport for food, and don't like the suggestions already given, why not order a "picnic box" from your pension hosts on Fakarava, and bring some "takeout" with you to Papeete, which you can eat at the snack bar tables at the airport before or after you have checked in?
