Hi everyone, new to the board and figure I would post since I will be visiting Rangiroa soon. We will be staying at Kia Ora for a few days then move onto the Sauvage. I've been reading that people are recommending the high 50's bungalow's but I believe they are the new deluxe ones. I was just wondering if there are regular beach bungalows we should try to avoid or if there is a specific bungalow we should try to request. Thanks all.

The new deluxe bungalows are the ones that had to be rebuilt because of the fire that burned down 3 of them in 2004 - we were there to see the fire - incredible what wind, fire and dry thatch palm roofing material can accomplish in a short amount of time.
We, fortunately, were in a beach bungalow on the other side of the resort - in Miki Miki - #1 - right next to the dive shop. Wouldn't recommend that one. We were just there overnight waiting to go to Sauvage, so it wasn't a big deal. Our beach bungalow was in beautiful condition then, recently remodeled, but that was 4 years ago and the tropics can wear things out quickly. Someone who has been there more recently will be able to give you a more accurate report. The garden bungalows are beautiful too, only a few more feet from the water's edge. The whole resort was renovated shortly before we arrived in 2004 and the result is gorgeous.
You are going to love the Sauvage!!
