Hi,
I am going for part of my honeymoon to Tahiti, and we were planning on Bora Bora, but...it is so much more to fly to Bora Bora than to go to Moorea.

Does anyone think that if we skip Bora Bora and just do Moorea we would really miss out? or is Moorea really beautiful to.

and which is the best resort in Moorea?, we were thinking the Sheraton in an OW Bungalow.

Would really appreciate any advice.
thank you :)

Bora is all bout the lagoon and VERY fancy, expensive hotels.
Moorea is about the island itself, plus the lagoon, with things comparatively less expensive all around. So the answer depends on how much time and money you have.

If you've never been to FP, and all you see is Moorea, you won't be disappointed . . . just curious about what ELSE is there.

STM is right, you wouldn't be disappointed with any place in FP, but I think it would be a shame not to go, being so close! For most people, it's a trip of a lifetime, so why not go the extra mile. OR, keep it for an anniversary....(but I would still go!)

On Moorea, we stayed in an owb at the Sheraton and we loved it. Great location, amazing snorkling right off you deck!

There's no single island in French Polynesian that "has it all". Thus why so many do the island hopping.

There's plenty to see/do in Moorea. Just remember excursions cost money. So you won't be bored after 7 nights. But it's always nice to get in the whole "surf and turf" experience.

What about keeping Moorea on your itinerary and go with alternative to Bora Bora? Although I'm not sure if anything out in the Tuamotu's would be less expensive than Bora Bora.

I've gone to both and felt "bored" on Bora Bora. Beautiful island but so is Moorea. Everything on Bora Bora was much more expensive. As other posters suggested, you might want to go to both and see for yourself if that is an option.

The Tuamotu Archipelago is less expensive than Bora, and most places are cheaper than Moorea. They need to do something to compete and price is where it's at. That being said, I'm more about the lagoons, so I prefer the Tuamotu. I hate tourists (even though I myself am one) so I go off the beaten path.

For those who want to look at a cost effective high island, Moorea and Tahiti don't disappoint. I've not done it but those who have taken 2 or 3 days on Tahiti have loved it.

Did 5 on Tahiti and wouldn't hesitate to do it again. You can save a lot of money using Le Truck which is efficient and reliable on Tahiti plus more roulottes to choose from.
