Hi,
I am going for part of my honeymoon to Tahiti, and we were planning on Bora Bora, but...it is so much more to fly to Bora Bora than to go to Moorea.

Does anyone think that if we skip Bora Bora and just do Moorea we would really miss out? or is Moorea really beautiful to.

and which is the best resort in Moorea?, we were thinking the Sheraton in an OW Bungalow.

Would really appreciate any advice.
thank you :)

Go to Bora Bora and Moorea - Your that far, you gotta see Bora Bora at least once

Bora is over-built, over-stated, and way over-priced. If you have heaps of $$$, consider it. Otherwise, enjoy yourselves on Moorea and also save on airfare.

Ya but you gotta see it once. There are cheaper alternatives for hotels and over built is relative. Its still one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Could we get some opinions on this question- Sofitel vs. Sheraton? It was never really answered, as it got off topic with Bora Bora. I am debating whether to switch from the Sofitel to the Sheraton.

My vote is the Sofitel. We were there December gone, and will be back there in two weeks. The deluxe OW bungalows are the the end of the pier, and are the newly constructed ones. They are quite spacious, and very beautiful. The deluxe has two decks, one to sit and lounge, one to swim from and shower. There is a beautiful long whitesand beach there that is considered my most, to be the best on Moorea. There is a lovely infinity pool that is spectacular at night especially for honeymooners. There is a great spa, lovely restaurants, that have tahitian dancing certain nights, and a beautiful setting. It is quite a bit away from everything, and it is best to have a car. That can be arranged at the hotel if you like. It's a beautiful place. We cannot wait to go back. I really cannot speak of the Sheraton. Why are you considering the switch. The Sheraton has also just laid off staff recently.

The Sheraton in Papeete is laying off people, not the one on Moorea.

I thought it might be better to be closer to the action (restaurants/shop), more centrally located at the Sheraton, and I know the snorkeling there is better. I've read great things about both resorts. I also like the more authentic polynesian decor of the Sheraton. But the Sofitel appears more spaced out, more land/acreage. I think the Sheraton's rates are going to come in quite a bit higher than Sofitel though which will keep me with the Sofitel, as I was only doing a Beach bungalow there to begin with.

Sheraton bungalows are a bit outdated in comparison with the Sofitel, the view from the Sofitel is magnificent, no sunset but sunrise though behind the island of Tahiti. Service now at Sofitel IMHO is better than the Sheraton (Sofitel really cranked up the service level) Sheraton only has one restaurant directly in its vicinity being Aito, the other resto's are about the same distance (Sheraton to Pao Pao or Haapiti) as Sofitel (Maharepa)
