LOL! I think Barbi was thinking the typical (as of late) around $1000 RT for 2...and then she (lost her mind and) doubled it. LOL! But...with the exchange rate getting so good the past few weeks, that flight is getting a lot cheaper! Probably closer to $750 RT for 2.

WHOOPS, I misspoke! This past summer the r/trip airfare to Bora Bora was approaching $1,000 for two people (NOT $2,000). Looks like it's come down a bit for the low season... Sorry for the misinformation!

The ferry schedule from Papeete to Moorea is posted at this website:
http://tahiti-tourisme.com/doclinks/moorea_boat_transportation.pdf
You would want to take either the Aremiti 5 or Moorea Express, which are the "fast ferries" -- 30 minute trip from Papeete to Moorea. The Aremiti is the "slow" ferry, takes about an hour.
From the Moorea ferry dock, you could take le truck (the bus) to Les Tipaniers, which would take between 40 minutes to an hour. Or you could take a taxi (around $40). Or you could pre-arrange a transfer pickup through Torea Nui, Albert Transport, or Moorea Explorer.

I've been in touch with Les Tips trying to get a res for next November. They finally came back with an email saying they were confirming my res request. Nothing really 'Official' and they are rather slow in getting back to me. Has anyone paid a deposit to them prior to arrival, or do you just show up and hope they have a bungalow for you?

Hey Joe! You're going again? Why are you staying at a different place this time? Where was it you stayed last month? I can't remember. Sometimes I think I'd love to stay at some of the other places, but I have such a great deal with the timeshare at CBH it's hard to stay elsewhere.

Patti, yup going again in Nov. of 2009 for 2 weeks. Staying at Les Tips insread of Robinson Cove Villa. We like the beach access, and the snorkeling is waaay better at LT than Opunohu Bay. It's also less expensive than RCV. RCV was more for 2 couples or a family with kids. Since we are going by ourselves this time instead of with family, we wanted to try something different. Also, we feel like we discovered and fell in love with Moorea all over again.

Hi Joe, We have booked this way 2 times with Les Tip and not had a problem. They have asked for our credit card via email, but did not charge anything until we checked out. Last time (2006), they said to cancel more than 2 weeks out and there was no penalty. They were sometimes slow and sometimes quick with replies to emails, but always replied. We woke up this morning to a foot+ of snow, with more expected thru Thurs. How about you?

Eperera, no snow since Sunday AM, but it was -18 here yesterday morning and -1 this AM. We're supposed to get more snow tonight/tomorrow morning. Nothing big, just a trace the weather guessers say. Which means I'll be up to my eyeballs in snow by tomorrow. I'm still just waiting for Les Tip to get back with a definite confirmation. The first time they had the dates a little off. And they haven't asked for a CC yet. We're getting the beach bungalow by the dive shack, #27. We requested this specific one and they said OK.

Joe, They have always been very accommodating to us, I think because we stay 2 weeks at a time. They offered us a slight discount last time due to our length of stay, so it wouldn't hurt to ask. We stayed in #27 back in 98 on our first trip. It was before they built the nice deck thats there now. Great view! And even being next to the dive shack with the foot traffic, it wasn't too loud or bothersome. Have you stayed at Les Tip before? Wow, I'm glad its not that cold over here! We've had some single digits, but not like your temps!
