My husband and I are planning to stay at Tipaniers for 5 days and we would like a kitchen. Does anyone have a particular room they recommend? Eperera, if you see this, I know you mention liking a garden room because of less foot traffic, is there one in particular that you liked? Also, in terms of getting there from Papeete, I keep reading that a ferry is a cheaper option? Does anyone know how long it would take and once we get to Moorea how to get to the hotel? Thank you!

Return by ferry/fast catamaran (1/2 hour) is 2730 cfp p.p and you could take a bus upon arrival 300 cfp/p.p or you could fix a pick up by a transportation company like Toreanui or Moorea Explorer, a little bit more expensive but they'll come get you at the dock (appr. 1/2 hour as well)

I am 90% sure we stayed in #10 the last few times. It backs up to the property line so nobody walks behind it. The layout/decor is the same in all the kitchen bungalows that I've been in. We took the ferry from Papeete, then transfer to the hotel with Toreanui. We had pre-arranged the transfer before we left. Toreanui was good, but we did have to stop and wait for a flight to arrive at the airport before we continued on to the hotel. We didn't mind, and the driver was really nice. I'd be happy to answer any more questions about Les Tip, and wish I was going too!!

Thank you both! One more question, since it is our first time to the FP, would you think 2 more days after that in Bora Bora would be sufficient? I read somewhere that it should be a minimum of 3 days but wanted to get your thoughts. We are also debating not going to Bora Bora at all as well since we are reading that some find Moorea to be enough. Thanks.

2 days BB seems very short, if you calculate travel time (to airport, check in, flight time, transfer from BB airport to Vaitape) and that for the return flight as well it will give you very very little time. There are flights from Moorea to BB but only 1 in 3 is direct, making you lose additional travel time, 3 days might be better (giving more value for your money as the flight to BB is expensive)
To visit or not BB is really a decision you should take yourself, depends also what you expect from it

I personally don't think 2 days on Bora would be enough. I'm basing that opinion mostly from a financial aspect. The flight there is very expensive. I'm not sure spending that much money to fly there for just 2 days is worth it...especially since a good portion of 2 of your days would be spent on transit. You would basically only have 1 full day there.

I also agree that I would do at least 3 nights on any island. 2 nights on any island is definitely too short.

We have friends that stay in Bungalow # 27 in Les Tips every year. It's a kitchen bungalow, right on the beach, and has a larger sundeck/patio than most of the others. It's the last bunglow on the north side of the beach, and right next to Activites Nautiques (where people rent diving equipment), so may not be the most private, but it's up on the ridge a little bit, and no one walks directly past the front door.
If you only have 7 days, I would recommend staying on Moorea and saving BB for your next trip. You will save almost $2,000 in interisland airfare by not going to BB -- in my opinion, two days is not worth that much!

Thank you so much, this information is invaluable. Last thing, how do I arrange to take the ferry to Moorea?

Barbi $ 2000 ?? return fare is p.p. 320 us$...
you can take the ferry from the ferry dock in Papeete, you have the choice between 2 companies, each offering a fast catamaran (30 minutes) or slower ferry (1 hr)
if you want to cross over directly upon arriving in FP you could take le Truck, right across from the airport to down town Papeete (bit of a hassle if you have lot of luggage) -no truck on Sunday)
ferries have various dep times mon thru sat
www.aremiti.pf (more comfy) www.mooreaferry.pf
