Hi, I am planning my diving trip to FP on March 2009 and I have short listed Rangiroa and Fakarava. Any recommendations?

I like diving with sharks and large pelagics. Rangiroa seems to be a good place for Hammerhead & silvertip which I have never seen before, what is the chance of seeing Silvertip in Avatoru Pass?
But I heard that Fakarava is even better, tons of Grey reef sharks in both passes of Fakarava which seems amazing. However, I have seen Grey Reef many times before, Anybody seen any silvertip or lemons or Hammerhead in Fakarava? Thanks.

We saw a lemon shark on Fakarava on one of our daily snorkelling expeditions. There were some other sharks we saw, too (silky?). By the way, the sharks at the southern pass were black-tips (I don't know if that's the same as greys). They're pretty common throughout FP, I think.

Apparently the Giant Hammerheads school at Rangi in October/November (hence our next trip is in November to Rangi), but they are at 40 metres and below. You'll see Lemon sharks everywhere in FP. If you like large pelagics, again, any pass in FP has plenty (Moorea, Bora Bora, Taha'a are the places I've dived). I'm going to dive Tahiti next time as well - been there 4 times but never dived there.

Is there anything better than a sipping a Tahitian Mai Tai on an Overwater Bungalow in FP?
