It's been awhile since we've been on the Tahiti Explorer site, and that's because we have a very real case of the Winter Blues.... We've been hesitant to book another trip to our favorite place on the planet because we recently moved, had a baby, and the constant bad news about the economy causes serious guilt when thinking of spending money to return to the South Pacific. So, this morning, I sat down to remember our past trips and looked at some old pictures....I've posted a few new one's online from our past trips to Raimiti and Bora Bora. It brought back a lot of good memories and also is motivating me to book our next trip. So, here's to the planning stage...we're going to make it happen in 2009. I also posted a few links for pictures that I've recently uploaded.

Oneea,

Wow, gorgeous photos -- they look like they were taken by a professional photographer! Yes, that can definitely make one "homesick" with the Tahitian flu!

I'm so jealous...we've started our planning, but the earliest we're looking to go is early on in 2010.

My husband took the pictures...when we visited Raimiti last time, he had a Canon 10D digital SLR with several different lenses. He brings the camera everywhere, along with tripod, and is getting pretty good at his "hobby". Looking at our pictures always brings back the feeling of being there, so hopefully it will give you an idea of the beauty and peace you'll find at Raimiti :)

Thanks Oneea, no offence to others on this forum, but those are the best pictures of Raimiti I've seen so far! It's very professional. I just hope mine are half as nice!

Is the kayak available at Raimiti? I've email Florian many times, but never thought of asking about a kayak. We also ho find the same motu on BB! The picture of you with the flowers on your head facing the Mount Otemanu is so nice...What great souvenirs!

This will be only our 2nd trip to FP and, like you, all other destinations are taking the back burner...I'm not even there yet and I'm already planning the 3rd trip...!

Thanks for the great pics. If you have more, please post them!!

Yes there are kayaks available at Raimiti...no charge. We did not use them, but I seem to remember someone saying it was about a 20-30 minute kayak ride down to Hirifa Beach.

Hi Andie. Thanks very much for the compliments on the pictures. My husband will surely appreciate it, and it's comments like that which keep him motivated for the next trip.

Patti is correct that the kayaks are available at Raimiti. While you're there, you must use these at least once or twice. They can take you to magical spots with only a short paddle through generally very calm waters. Also, Junior and Elvina packed us a lunch in a cooler complete with lunch meats, fresh veggies and fruits, some french bread, and of course a few ice cold Hinano's. It was one of those days that I'd do almost anything to re-live again....It's possible that since you're visiting sooner, you'll have to take some pictures and pass along your photos and experience to us until we can make it back :)
