............ The outlook for 2009 is pessimistic, coupled with the opening of two new hotels on the island of Tahiti that will add 220 rooms to the market, Garrido said.
So, does anybody have information about the new hotels opening on the island of Tahiti?

One of them is called the Manava Suite Resort on Tahiti Looks very similar to the Raddison - More of a Family place with each room having a kitchen. Not sure exactly where it is. Looks nice. The new trend - Raddison etc is to make the hotel very easily changed over to condos so after the 5 year tax break they can convert if they are not doing so well as hotels

Manava suite resort (SPM) is where the Ia Orana Village used to be in Punaauia (near the lagoonarium) Other one is the Prince HInoi, city hotel right up the avenue PH from the ferry docks, opening in feb Meanwhile Club Med has announced its closure as of Feb 1st for couple of months (or so they say...)

I'm a Hilton Honors member. I like this program better than Starwood.

Just back from two nights at Hilton in an overwater, and then the Paul Gauguin cruise. I'm happy to report all was well at the Hilton, good service and lovely room, despite what could be an unsettling time with the switchover. They are doing some redecorating, with some work noise during normal working hours (nothing bad, could have shut the slider if we needed to, but never did). The snorkeling was fantastic!
