Our travel agent just emailed me and let me know that they cancelled the 10pm flight out on the night we were suppose to fly back, and now we are on the 11:30pm flight. Our flight from Moorea to PPT is around 5pm, so we were thinking of storing our bags and taking a cab into town for a nice leisurely dinner. Any recommendations of where we should eat? Is it easy to store bags (I know I read about the luggage storage at PPT, but I can't remember if its easy to find/use). Thanks so much for any advice you can give us.

Good question Carrieq. We were wondering the same thing as our flight from PPT is at 2:30am...Not sure if we want to just get a room at the airport hotel or crash at the airport for a while (hmmm..bad choice of word here...!) See you at Raimiti in May (only 120 days left before my departure...!)

The best place to go for dinner is the belvedere. I think you need to call and they will pick you up. It will be the most thrilling way to end your vacation. they do have a storage place at the airport although its not cheap.

Andie~ Are you and Carrie going to be at Raimiti at the same time? Ohh...that should be fun!
I was a little dismayed at a recent Raimiti review I read on TA. They had a real issue with the other guests at Raimiti. It was the first one I've seen with this particular problem. We were lucky because we had the place to ourselves our first 4 days and only one other (very quiet) couple our last 1.5 days. But I can see where it would be an issue if you had to share paradise some "pain in the butt" guests.
Hope both you guys have a great time there!

I read that review too. Did you read the even more recent one? They really had a problem with the owner and some other things. Like them, I assumed that there would be some sort of activity every day we were there (unless weather prevented it, etc.). I might have asked a similar question at breakfast, something like, "what is the activity today?", but now I'm not so sure that is a good question to ask.

Eric can be very French. Even his daughter Maluha gave him wide berth when he was upset at something. There are more good reviews than bad though. So take what people write with a grain of salt.

Yes, I did read that one too. I got the impression the writer of the review wanted to be the one choosing the activity. When we went, we usually didn't know we were going until about 15 minutes before. But we did go somewhere every day. Sometimes it was after breakfast, sometimes after lunch. The activity was chosen for us. I'm sure the days activities are based on the weather, the tides (snorkeling the pass), how much time it will take and when they have the time based on arrivals and departures of other guests. It's a lot of stuff that has to be coordinated.
But certainly if they have an activity planned for the afternoon...then do your own thing in the morning...get a kayak and go somewhere...snorkel right off the dock. They do not entertain you 24/7. They do one activity a day. You're on your own the rest of the time....you need to find stuff to do and you can do as much or as little as you want.
Personally I think the problem was more with the guy. He seemed to want to be diving twice a day. You don't go to Raimiti if you are a scuba diver. Raimiti "can" get dives arranged for you, but it's difficult because you have to be dependent on the dive companies in the north coming down to the south pass and picking you up on their way. I really do believe Eric frowns on divers staying there and their "divers attitude". He does not cater his operation to divers, nor does he want to, from what Maluha said. Because this guy basically wanted to dive, it may have pushed Eric buttons. Hard to say for sure.
And...as for the pictures being photo shopped??? OMG! Who is he trying to kid! I took absolutely amazing pictures when I was there with a basic 5MP Sony! None of my pictures were touched up at all..I have no idea how to even do photo shop! Certainly not every photo on the Raimiti website was taken right at Raimiti, but all are in the general area. I saw the same colors and scenes as depicted on the website and took many of the same pictures myself!

I agree Patti. The pic's on the website are the same as I have on my computer at home. From an 5mp Canon. As I said, take reviews with a grain of salt. Some people are not happy no matter what.

I thought it might be just that person's personality too. We definitely don't need to be entertained all the time, or even every day for that matter. We are very good at doing nothing for long periods of time, but I am looking forward to the excursions based on what people have mentioned here, and might have asked what the excursion was early in the day just out of curiousity, but never because I wanted to pick what we did. I definitely want them to chose what they want to show us, and am excited to see where they take us.

Carrie~ Yes, I do believe it was mostly his/her personality and I think probably also partly based on the fact they had bad weather.
I try very heard to read between the lines with reviews...especially with a complaint....to see if the complaints are based on fact, perception, or something else. Usually there is something that didn't go exactly as planned and it seems to ruin the entire experience for them. The comments about the diving (or lack of), the weather...and mostly the photoshopped picture comments told me all I needed to know about this person to not put a whole lot of credence in what they were complaining about.
That's one the biggest problems with FP...there's not a lot to do when the weather is bad. It is even more pronounced at a place like Raimiti...'cause there simply is no where else to go. You can't just go shopping, or out to a restaurant, or out driving around the island sightseeing.
But hey! They liked the Crème Brulee! LOL! That must count for something!
Now the other reviewer with the complaints about the fellow guests...oh man...I can truly sympathize with them. I would not want to be stuck there with overly pushy annoying guests.
Now back to my other question...are you and Andie going to be there at the same time?
And...sorry we hijacked your thread about going out to dinner while waiting for your flight! :-)
