Hey Patti, Carrie and I will be able to meet at Raimiti only for one day! I arrive on May 12 and she leaves the next day. We planned to at least have a drink to celebrate her departure and my arrival!
As for the reviews, one should make their homework when going to a place like this. It's not for everyone. If you expect to be entertained every day, you might be disappointed. We personnally will be more than happy just hanging around, doing our own thing, and feel totally disconnected from the rest of the world, away from schedules...Isn't that why we go there? And yes, with only 5 bungalows, you might be stuck with someone who gets on your nerves...and on Eric's...!I think the motu is big enough to get lost...! Crème brûlée is by far my favourite dessert...It will truly be heaven on earth! ;0)

Thnaks Andie. I think you'll be fine. Carrie too. Both of you have done your homework on Raimiti and should have a great stay. Can't wait for the trip reports and pictures!

My sense of humor is tickled by the ironic, so whenever I see complaints about FP, I tend to think they're kind of funny. 99% of the time they're because the complainer didn't do any/nearly enough research about where they were going. Seriously, who spends this kind of money without doing some serious research?!? Everything I've read said that the south pass really isn't for divers because the shops are miles and miles away, unless you stay at the place right on the pass.
Caveat emptor still applies, if not you get what you deserve. As for the weather, last time I checked no place has stable weather, let alone a climate thousands of miles from significant land mass. Unless you get truly unlucky with a typhoon, how can you complain about the weather? If you want a guarantee, you need to go to San Diego. It's closer and cheaper.

Exactly right Justine. I always read the hotel/trip reviews on TA and I just seriously have to laugh at some of them. Did these people do ANY research on their destination at all????
My absolute favorite complaints are the ones about no English speaking TV channels other than CNN. First of all...you are in a French speaking country! NOT an English speaking country. Why would they have English channels? Hello??? And more important...why the heck are you even thinking about watching TV in a place like that????

Perhaps some of these complainers would just be better off watching the travel channel in the comfort of their own home. No issues that way. Everything you need is right close at hand, non? (That's one of the couple of words I know in French so I am practicing)

Gee. I watch the Travel Channel and there's not nearly enough about FP and then it's only a program that lasts for an hour. A vicarious 1 hour vacation in FP just isn't the same as being there! Yet again, I first became aware of FP in 1953 thanks to a Zane Grey fishing/travel movie (a silent film from 1929) I saw on TV. I've been forever hooked since that day and still can't get enough. My wife says I oughta move there. Dream, dream, dream..........

svenseas....yes...but for some...it would be far better for them to just stay home and watch TV instead of going to the islands. Because when they get there...all they want and expect are all the creature comforts of home!....and end up disappointed in their trip because they weren't able to watch English channel TV stations! LOL!

Hi Andie, we are still reading Jan Prince's latest Tahiti FP guide and I think you would love it!! On page 179 she lists that if you have time to kill before your evening flight to get Belvedere's free le truck (and they will take your luggage with you as well)and enjoy a relaxing dinner before your departure.
