Any updates on the Club Med situation? Has anyone seen any construction going on?

It's NOT going to be re-opening any time soon, if at all. Not in this economy...same with Hotel Bora Bora. Most of the hotels can't afford to stay open right now. There are more than a few that are struggling big time to stay afloat.

As predicted, Club Med has announced last week that CM BB will not reopen and is presently negotiating with the unions concerning the lay-off of all the workers

Poehere~ Any other hotels on the "danger" list? I read on another site that the St Regis was in trouble. Is that true?

St Regis had 0 guests, there is talk that the Intercontinental will (temporarily) close the Moana beach and refer guests to Thalasso, Novotel is closing April 1st.

WOW! And considering Bora is the most popular, I can only imagine how bad it is on the other islands. :-(

This is really strange. They are not even attempting more promotions, just closing down? St Regis is so overpriced with such a bad reputation for bad service, no doubt nobody is coming. I bet Four Seasons is doing much better... But it's sad. We were planning to go as soon as we have some free moment, but it would s@ck to be the only guests in the hotel...

Those properties won't fare well while they sit idle. A reno prior to reopening will almost certainly be required. Even more expense for the owners, not exactly what they need.

Honestly I don't think even promotions will help enough to fill the hotels. People are simply not traveling at all...doesn't matter if there are promotions or not. Sure some people woul dtake advantage of a good promotion, but not enough to fill the hotels. It's a no win situation for them and for all the rest of the travel industry, all over the world, right now.
