I don't know what the deal is on the Sofitel on Huahine, but it just keeps getting worse and worse with damage. The roofs are deteriorating more and more and there is furniture piled up in some of the bungalows. But with the elements entering, I don't how much longer that furniture will be any good to anyone. It's such a waste, in my eyes. One would think even a few CFP's would be better than nothing, but I don't know the story on the Sofitel. I know they have guards hired to protect the property. I remember seeing a falling down resort on Moorea a few years ago where there were a lot of people kind of squatting there. I guess it was an eyesore, but Moorea is so beautiful, one can overlook that part, I guess.

I have to admit it is ugly, but with the breathtaking beauty all around, it doesn't look as ugly as if it were in some location in the US. Quite frankly, I'd rather have that kind of home in FP than live anywhere in the US, but then I'd have to have some home improvements done after I moved in. Having things done for free for people is not usually the best thing, is it. I still am trying to win that darn lottery here, though.

St Regis had 0 guests, there is talk that the Intercontinental will (temporarily) close the Moana beach and refer guests to Thalasso, Novotel is closing April 1st.
Wow, interesting info Poehere!!!! A couple questions:
1. When did the St Regis have 0% occupancy? Currently? ~100 fantastic rooms and ZERO guests?!?!?!?!?!? Wow, that's something!!!
2. Is there an estimated timeframe for when IC Moana might close and send guests over to IC Thalasso? Soon? Or months from now? If you are planning a summer trip to BB, now might be an ideal time to book cheap Garden Bungalows at IC and hope for an upgrade over to a nice OWB at Thalasso. Could save people some coin!!!! Closing Moana temporarily actually makes a lot of sense as it would save them a lot in labor costs, electricity, etc..................IMHO.
I visited St Regis when I was in Bora Bora last week. I asked what the occupancy was and they said about 40%, although they also mentioned that one wing of the standard OWBs were closed (as well as the ocean-side beach bungalows facing Tahaa). So most people were getting 1 category upgrades at this time because of that. 40% is far different than 0%. I wonder when they reported 0% occupancy. Where did you hear this Poehere? I still don't think you answered this. Now maybe there wasn't really 40% occupancy, maybe they were inflating this number. But there were certainly a fair amount of people there when I was there, at least 10-15 other couples I saw while I was there, which would put occupancy at 15% minimum (and that's assuming nobody was sitting on their OWB deck and I missed them).
Likewise, it seemed like there was a decent amount of people at IC Moana when I stayed there. IC Thalasso was a little less busy, but there were still other couples there. Off the top of my head, and completely guessing, I'd guess that this was the occupancy the days I was at each of the following: IC Thalasso: 25% Le Meridien: 40% (this one probably seemed busier since one whole section of OWBs was closed to extend the OWB decks and also 10-12 of the Beach Bungalows were closed due to the construction on them) St Regis: 20% IC Moana: 40%

Who cares how many people are there? As long as the resort is open when you stay there! Sorry if this comes across as a bit rude, but Greg, Poehere is not the personal (on location) representitive of Tahiti Explorer, so do a search before you just hammer a post at her - she is a VERY valuable contributor to this forum. If you were at IC Thalasso, LM, St Regis and IC Moana last week, then YOU should be providing the info on these resorts. Poehere is a resident, so she has the knowhow of the locals, not the resorts. If you've got something to share - then share it. Have you submitted a trip report on your visit to IC Thalasso, LM, St Regis and IC Moana? I'd be intersted to read it, as we have stayed at several of the resorts you "stayed at last week". How was the weather? How were the rooms? How was the service? Were any of the "10-15 couples" familiar with Tahiti Explorer? Sorry Greg, but you sound like a BS artist gimme. Please contribute like the other members do, or at the very least, respect the knowledge and contributions that the experienced and valued members of this site have to offer.
I apoligise in advance if I have offended you, but lately we seem to be reading alot of gimme posts, rather than sharing our love and knowledge of our beloved FP.
