Hello and Ia orana all!
I am new to the forums so perhaps this is a very obvious query...thanks for any help/assistance you can provide
We are staying in Maupiti for 3 nights in November and wanted to go to Raiatea on a wednesday (or thursday), hence we cannot use Air Tahiti (which only seems to fly rhis route on Tuesdays)
Ive tried my best to make sense of the Maupiti Express schedule, tried emailing/calling but as I don't speak french it has been a bit of a struggle.
Does anyone know whether the boat goes from Maupti to Raiatea on Wednesday or Thursday please? Also, what time does it leave Maupiti/arrive at Raiatea, is it a direct boat or via Bora bora?
Thanks a lot in advance!!

Unless I'm mistaken, according to the schedule I see (posted below), you can't really do the trip all in one day. It looks like the Maupiti to Bora Bora leg happens on one day and the Bora Bora to Raiatea happens the next day. So you'd have to overnight in Bora Bora to make it work for you.
Speed boat going to Maupiti, Tahaa, Raiatea from Bora Bora.
capacity: 140 persons
Timetable:
MONDAY /WEDNESDAY / FRIDAY
Departure from Bora Bora to Tahaa/Raiatea at 7 AM
Departure from Raiatea to Tahaa/Bora Bora at 4 PM
and FRIDAY during school term
Departure from Bora Bora to Raiatea at 7 AM and 3 PM
Departure from Raiatea to Bora Bora at 2 PM and 6 PM
TUESDAY /THURSDAY /SATURDAY
Departure from Bora Bora to Maupiti at 8.30 AM
Departure from Maupiti to Bora Bora at 4 PM
SUNDAY
Departure from Bora Bora to Tahaa/Raiatea at 3 PM
Departure from Raiatea to Tahaa/Bora Bora at 6 PM

pdm: could you switch your days to accommodate flying rather than boat? Last June, we met a couple who took the Maupiti Express to Raiatea from Bora Bora.....they said they have never experienced such seas in their lives (they are from Australia and are sailors themselves)and they have never been so sick either. Not to give the Maupiti Express a bad posting but they don't call it the Vomit Express for nothing.

Air Tahiti has a flight Maupiti to Raiatea on Tuesday Friday and SUndays
Maupiti Express cannot be done in one day, if taking the ME on Thursday, arriving Thursday night in BB you can only continue to Raiatea next morning 7 Am
Easiest way would be extending your stay on Maupiti for 1 night and taking flight out on Friday. Flight will be less expensive than 2 tickets on the ME
Email: the owner of the ME lives on a motu and does not have frequent internet contact

Thanks Poehere, thats very helpful..
I think we will change our itinerary a bit (and go to Maupiti after Raiatea)
Presumably, we can take the Maupiti Express (on Saturday afternoon 4pm) to go directly to Bora Bora?

Yes you can take the ME from Maupiti sat afternoon, the ME arrives in Vaitape BB around 6 pm, note of caution coming to BB from Maupiti is going against the prevailing wind, meaning it can get pretty choppy out there, if you tend to get sea sick, avoid the roof terrace and front cabin area but rather take a seat in the back of the cabin.
If you have a pension or hotel booked for your arrival in BB make sure you'll have a transfer waiting for you on the dock, taxi's will make you pay anything above 50 us$ after 6 pm and there is no public transportation

It docks on the main dock in Vaitape (across from the airport shuttle boats). Depending on your accommodation they'll come pick you up (the resorts on the outer motu's won't, you'd have to wait for their evening shuttles to arrive...)
