What is the current condition of the Motu?
We last stayed there in 2003. I know they just completed
a remodel of the Sofitel beach.

Are there any plans for the Motu? If so, when?

Thanks

Hi genel, I just received this email from Sofitel Motu (sorry it's a bit long!!!)

Thanks for your mail regarding your stay.

As you are aware, all countries around the world are suffering from the economical and financial crisis. French Polynesia has of course not escaped unscathed. With a decreasing number of clients at Sofitel Bora Bora Marara and Sofitel Bora Bora Motu, our principal concern is to maintain a congenial and relaxed resort atmosphere and still ensure an outstanding level of service and luxury experience for our clients.

With this in mind, we are delighted to announce the following new developments :

a different theme buffet every evening at the restaurant "Latitude 16"

(Sofitel Bora Bora Marara) presenting International and Polynesian cuisine and, in particular, show cooking of hot and cold dishes as well as desserts.

Our select tapas menu is available at the Hurricane Bar (Sofitel Bora Bora

Marara) with a magnificent view of the Sofitel Bora Bora Motu and lagoon, if guests wish to dine lightly.

to top it off, an incredible Tapas discovery party every Saturday from 7pm proposing a delectable selection of Spanish and International tapas in our restaurants at Sofitel Bora Bora Marara.

And to start the evening on a festive note, our guests are invited to discover a wide range of exotic cocktails such as Pink Coconut or Moana Blue during Happy Hour at the Hurricane Bar from 6pm to 7pm.

Finally a new, affordable lunch menu is now available in a relaxed atmosphere under a parasol or soaking up the sun : the terrace in front of Hurricane Bar by the pool and overlooking the beach and lagoon.

Our guests will be further delighted by the new landscaping taking place at Sofitel Bora Bora Marara for the overwater bungalow area. New greenery, flowers and reinforcement of the small motus on the edges of the overwater bungalows is currently being undertaken and will be completed by end of March 2009.

Other changes in order to enhance our guests' Sofitel luxury experience and conserve a convivial atmosphere are :

An invitation to our Sofitel Motu guests to have lunch or dinner in our restaurants at Sofitel Bora Bora Marara. The restaurant "Manu Tiki" at Sofitel Bora Bora Motu is closed for lunch and dinner during the crisis period. The restaurant will remain open everyday for our generous breakfast.

Our free shuttle is available for our guests with a quick 2 minutes transfer across to Sofitel Bora Bora Marara.

The Japanese Teppanyaki restaurant Wakaba is now converted into a meeting space for meetings or private/public events up to 40 people, set up for the great Tapas night held every Saturday evening.

Feel free to contact us should you need more information

We have just been advised by our local TA that the Sofitel Bora Bora Beach Hotel (Marara) and the Sofitel Motu have combined to become the one resort from 1 Sept 2009.

genel, we last stayed there in October 2003. Sure miss this place. I hope it survives the global financial crisis.
