Wow, Peter, that sounds like a scary boat ride! Even the daytime ride (on a covered boat) to Raimiti seemed to last forever, I can't imagine that in total darkness. Glad it all ended well...

Old wife, the fishes are amazingly beautiful with colors. That is why I am so much into marine life, and it is also the reason why I chose Tetamanu Village. Actually I'm more excited to see the new species of butterflyfish that I have never seen before than the sharks.
Holte, I use the old olympus u720SW waterproof camera (up to 3m deep) and my friend has the new olympus Stylus Tough 8000 (up to 10m waterproof). The photos were all taken when snorkeling at Tetamanu village. We didn't buy the housing for taking picture during scuba diving, so the encounters with 100+ sharks at the bottom of south pass during diving is only in my memory. Too bad! Now even Canon (PowerShot D10) also has 10m waterproof digital camera. Maybe it is worth to give a try also.
Vaitape, yes, most likely I will be in HK during Mar/Apr. You plan to visit HK? Mar/Apr is a good time to visit, not too hot and not too humid. Pls let me know if there are anything I can help for your visit :-)
Please give me more time,(Fakarava 2009 (III)) photos will be coming up soon. cheers!

The funny thing about the fish in FP (for us outsiders/non-divers) is that when we arrived, so many of the fish looked alike. I'd think, "Oh, there's another one of those yellow and black fish). By the end of 3 weeks, I could tell there were many kinds of yellow and black fish and I could name many of them (thanks to Maluha). I look back on my photos and realize how varied the fish were that I originally thought were all one kind!
