We had been to Maldives 4 times, Palau once, couple of times at Phuket, Phi Phi Islands, Koh Samui and even Bali, there are nothing like Bora Bora!!!

Not even Palau or Maldives can compare the true turquoise seawater in Bora Bora, especially the beautiful lagoon at Le Moana!!!

We had been to FP twice and our third trip to FP in this coming August will also include Bora Bora. First time to FP, we only stayed 3 nights at Bora Bora, and we felt very regretted that we couldn't stay longer, so we went back to FP the 2nd time after a year and stayed for 5 nights. This time we will also first stay 5 nights at Bora Bora for "warming up" before going to Fakarava for 8 nights. I guess 5-6 nights for Bora Bora is just good for the first timer. Don't do anything less than 4 nights.
We haven't stayed at Moana, but we've been through there (we stayed at Thalasso). What really impressed me was the colours in the lagoon where Moana is - absolutely stunning!
SPOT ON!!!! The colors of the lagoon at IC Moana were incredible. There is this well-defined curvy line where it gets deeper and the color changes from white to blue. It was incredible. I thought the lagoon view was the best from our OWB at Moana of all 3 resorts we stayed at. We had a Horizon OWB there BTW which was just about 2 bungalows down from this distinctive/incredible white to "blue" line in the water.

We also had a dead-on view of Mt Otemanu from our OWB at Le Meridien. The colors there were also quite nice, but more blue like deeper ocean colors. And then we had a nice (but not dead-on Otemanu) view from our OWB at IC Thalasso. The water there was also incredible as it was the greenish/turquiosish color that you see in all the magazines of Bora Bora. However the colors didn't change as much at Thalasso.

All in all, I really enjoyed the changing and contrasting colors of the lagoon at Moana, incredible and something I will never forget (until I get Alzheimers). :-)

To Greg,

What was the water depth at the OWB at Le Moana, the one that is closer to the water line where the color changes from white to blue?

Thanks

Hello spgr, welcome to TFPC (Tahitian Flu Patients' Club)! lol... I think i can answer your question. No matter which OWB you choose at Le Moana, they are all about waist deep (I'm about 6 feet tall). Although this August I stayed at Thalasso, I still like Le Moana a lot and even went there one afternoon for snorkeling and exploring the marine life hiding under each OWB. As you know every single OWB has corals underneath and you can see it in your room through the transparent coffee table. This time we discovered couple of stone fishes sticking on the coral under one of the OWBs, and if they didn't make any movement, it would be difficult for me to find them. Please be aware, they are very poison! I also discovered a lot of eels in green color and couple of lionfishes. There are nothing for you to see at the deeper water (white to deeper blue), it is about 3m deep and it is pretty dangerous to snorkel around there as it is the path for the Le Moana-Thalasso shuttle, diving and excursion boats.

A good rule of thumb - the darker the blue - the deeper the water.
I agree Greg, the lines are unique. Just sitting there on the wharf waiting to go back over to Thalasso was an experience. I even had the pilot of the "workers" shuttle apoligise that I couldn't get a ride with them because he could lose his job! Hey, there are worse places to sit and wait!
