I'm a little over a month away from our first trip to Raimiti, followed by the Moorea Pearl, and I want to make sure I have a good packing list (this does not include clothes yet). This is what I got so far. Can you tell me if I'm missing anything?

travel documents
passports
copy of passports and travel documents in separate bag
beach bag
beach towels
first aid kit
toiletries
hats
sunscreen
reef shoes
snorkel and mask and mask cleaner
pareo
bug spray (lots!)
tea lights and matches
flashlight and batteries
cameras and underwater camera case
adaptor plugs
ipod
snacks
zip lock bags
extra pair of cheap sun glasses for each of us
fake wedding rings for both
kindle
deck of cards

You don't need the flashligh. They provide them in each bungalow. They have First Aid stuff also. There is no electric in your bungalow, so you would have to run your Ipod off battery. It can be recharged in the main eating bungalow though. I have to ask, what is kindle? And why would you do fake wedding rings? We both wore the real thing.

Thanks for the reply. The kindle is amazon's electronic book reader. I can download several books from home and read them on the device while in Raimiti. It runs on a battery that you charge through an outlet, but my charge usually lasts over a week based on reading about an hour or less a day on average, so I might need to charge it once while there, depending on how much I read. I bought it because I travel a lot, and can just take the kindle instead of multiple books weighing my bag down.

We do the fake rings since we are are in the water a lot and don't want to worry about our rings slipping off our fingers, or taking them off and putting them in the safe, etc.

What safe? Raimiti feels a bit weird at first since you have only a curtain for a door, but you get used to leaving your stuff lying around (at least we did).

Your travel documents include medical insurance, right?

Are you going to share the Kindle at the same time? If not, you'll need some books (there are some in the bungalows, though...I read at least one English book there and enjoyed it and left one or two).

Prescription meds, bubble wrap for liquor (we bought ours at LAX and some more in Moorea so we needed to wrap the Moorea Vahine liquor to come home), a washcloth if you use one, a garbage bag for holding laundry (especially wet bathing suits & towels the day you leave), a journal and pen to record your experiences (plus to write down which fish is in which photo--it's hard to remember all their names), and a copy of your names and itinerary inside your luggage in case you get separated from it.

Thanks. I didn't know if they had safes at Raimiti, but we used ours in Moorea at the Pearl the last two times we were there for our passports, etc. I know some people bring their rings, and then just leave them in the safe, but I figure its better to keep them at home.

The Kindle is just for me. My husband doesn't read books very much, mostly just political magazines, which he'll bring. Bubble wrap is an excellent idea, I would not have thought about that. And yes, we carry our travel insurance documents, which includes medical insurance.

I expect Raimiti does have some kind of safe spot if you really want them to hold onto your passports (at the very least, they could hide them somewhere). We were lucky in that we were the only guests for most of the time we were there and the bit of time that there were other guests, we were either snorkelling with them or in or near our bungalow reading so we didn't have anyone to worry about. But I figure everyone's in the same boat there (not having locking doors, safes, etc.) and we all seemed to have the same relaxed attitude in general so I wouldn't have worried even with a lot of people there.

I wrapped the Vahine liquor in bubble wrap and then wrapped a beach towel around it to pack. That bottle was tossed on a van to get to the airport on Moorea, put on the plane, touched down on Bora Bora, landed on Huahine, was put on another van & not unpacked on Huahine, put on another van to the Huahine airport, landed in Papeete and was put on another plane for Fakarava, bounced in the jeep for an hour or so, on the boat to Raimiti, back on the boat to the airport, flew to Papeete, flew to LAX, flew to Toronto & home with us. It arrived home safe & sound.

- Personal water bottles (I like the aluminum SIGG-bottles) & a tiny bottle of dishwash liquid - that way you can wash your own bottles and they will fill them with the wonderful rainwater.
- I also loved having our solar hot water shower bag (if you're staying in a lagoonside bungalow)

Carrie,
- If you wear contact lenses, bring at least one extra set in case you lose them while swimming. We bringing 2 extra sets as we'll be gone almost 5 weeks.

Only 32 days before departure! I started packing about 3 weeks ago...I'm a little anxious to go! See you there soon!
