We are thinking about returning to Huahine after an absence of 4 years. At one point we were going to FP and Huahine in particular every year. Was wondering what the state of Te Tiare is these days.We have seen managers and chefs come and go and on the last trip we felt the fares were in need of upgrading. Has the drop off in tourism affected the quality at Te Tiare? It also seems there are less dining options in town as well. Also is dive center in town still operating? FP is still expensive for us right now and want to make sure it still will live up to our great memories of Huahine. Thanks.

We were in Huahine over Christmas. I'm not sure of which dive shop you mean, but if it's the cute little blonde, she still is doing it. Poetainia's is not a restaurant anymore as such. It does have breakfast and lunch, but it's much different. We had a snack there one day. I can't remember what would have been there 4 years ago in terms of restaurants, but Chez Tara's on Iti is probably new to you and excellent. It's right next to Relais Mahana. We were at the Te Tiare for New Year's and it was the best time ever. We did not stay there so I can't speak about the accommodations, but I know that the owner has poured tons of money into it over the last couple of years. The manager is very nice, but he hasn't been there that long. Maybe a year? I don't know anything about the chef. The food at New Year's was beautiful. I hope someone can give you more and better info about the Te Tiare. Huahine is our favorite island so far. We've stayed there the equivalent of over three months over the years. If you have any specific restaurants to ask about, maybe I can answer that question. Snack Temara is excellent as well. I think it's the same name . It's downtown right on the water. The fish with vanilla sauce is divine! And inexpensive-about 1600 CFP. We stayed at Christmas for 15 days.

We made our 4th visit to Te Tiare last August. Although occupancy was only about 35%, the service was as good as ever. Most of the former staff was still there and greeted us like returning family. About the only staff change was the new manager who just took over earlier in 2008. He is very friendly and seems quite competent. The bungalows have all been renovated with new roofs, bedspreads, curtains etc. Huahini and Te Tiare are still our favorites in FP. A couple of the restaurants in Fare have closed in the last couple of years and we saw no new shops in town. They were rebuilding the quay across from the market and it may be finished by now. I don't know if anything new will be open there. The roulottes are were still operating.

Holte,The dive shop I was referring to was by the wharf in Fare. I think Annie? runs the one based down by Relais Mahana. I liked the one in Fare because he (Theo) had a regular boat with ladder for re-entry and a roof for shade vs. Annies Zoidac style boat which is a hassle to get back into at my age! Huahine has always been our favorite island as well and have enjoyed 5 previous trips there.Jake did Te Tiare still offer room service food? We would just order a few appetizers and complement it with things from the Super Fare sit on the deck and watch the sunset over Raitea and Tahaa and wait for the outrigger guys to go by, pure bliss!. Hoping we can find the $$$. Thanks for the info.

The one in Fare is still there. I hope you can find the cash to go.

Room service is still available at Te Tiare. They also added more tables in the newly expanded beach bar.
