Sounds like you had a great time!

We'll be sure to check out the overlook above the hotel. Looking forward to our first Tahitian sunset. :D

Was it far to the supermarket from the Sofitel? We'll rent a car for trips round the island etc but wonder if its walking distance to anything nearby? We don't want to spend too much time driving (we both drive alot with work), we're outdoorsy kinda people so don't mind walking!

Only 8 weeks to go!

http://www.tahiti-islands.com/moorea.html This web page will give you a good map of Moorea.
The Sofitel isn't in walking distance to stores. The large supermarket Champion that has the best selection and lowest prices. Use you thumb (safe in pairs) and hitch a ride
or rent a car. One other good tip. At the Air Moorea checkin counter in Tahiti buy 4 taxi passes for 600 xfp each for transportation to your hotel on Moorea and back to the airport when you leave.

I think we have taxi transfers already paid for, I'll check that actually I'm sure they were counted in! Thanks for reminding me about that though.

Sounds like we might as well hire the car for a week in the middle of the holiday! Then just spend the other days lounging on the beach! Is it fairly reasonable, price wise, for car hire?

Avis has the best cars. Sandrine's email avis.tahiti@mail.pf
Avis webpage for pictures of cars www.avis-tahiti.com
Be sure to take the local insurance. Sandrine is located at the ferry dock in the Avis office. Be sure to check out every ding and dent and also the tires inside and out as flat tires or tire damage is your bill if something goes wrong.

Great link, thanks!

Seems fairly reasonable at £300 for an economy option and £400 for a mid level car with a/c. :) For 7 days.

The Avis office at Vaiare seems to be walking distance from the Sofitel too! Is there anything to see in Vaiare itself or shall we just use it solely for the car hire?

Sorry you must be sick of all the same questions by now!

TA advisors never get tired of questions. Yes you can walk to
Vaiare but there is only one small grocery store, fruit stands
at the dock, gas station, and plumbing supply store. Call from your hotel to Sandrine at Avis 56 32 68 to see if Avis will come to the hotel and pick you up.

Thanks for the contact number! You guys certainly know your stuff. :) Guess when you like a place so much it comes with the territory.

Whereabouts is the Champion store mentioned earlier? Sounds like the best place to go for groceries. We'll be eating at restaurants at the hotel or around the island for breakfast and dinner but would be nice to get some picnic foods to eat out and about for lunch. :)

Champion is located about 1 km from the ferry dock. Go towards
Afareaitu.
