We just got back yesterday. We stayed 6 nights at Raimiti and 3 nights at the Pearl resort. We took over 1000 pictures, so it may be a few days before we can sort through them and post some. We are already working on our trip reports, but for now I'll say that we really loved Raimiti!

I'm so glad to hear that Carrie. I was a little worried...especially since I just read a new review of Raimiti on TA and they said there were 19 people there when they stayed there! I can't even imagine 19 people being there!!!

Can't wait to hear all about your trip! Get moving on that trip report! :-)

1000 pictures, huh? WOW! I'm not sure even I took that many! LOL! 700-800 maybe...but I don't think it was 1000. :-)

Patti - I was there during the same time as the poster. When we first arrived, there were ten of us, and the next day, 7 people arrived (including one very young child, maybe 3), all Italian, and the next day two other Italians arrived, bringing the total to 19 for two or three nights, I can't remember. The last night it was down to 8, including Andie and her husband Mike, who were great!

I agree with the poster that Raimiti is a much different place with 19 people than it is with 10 or less. It really makes a difference with meals (you have to eat at tables with others, which I know some people didn't like at all, but we were happy to as there was another american couple we got to know really well there that we sat with).

I also agree that they have to do something about the airport runs. Since no one took us on excursions other than Erik (except to drop us off at the beach), there were several days where we didn't do anything but go to the beach. We ended up going 4 times to the beach, two times to the ocean side to snorkel, and two times to the pass. It would be better if they only offered certain arrival and departure days (say you have to come or leave only on Tuesday or Thursday), or they have to allow Junior or the others to take people out while Erik is away. But there were much more positives than negatives, so I'd like to go back someday.

I think they are really missing not having Maluha and Patea there. But I understand they have no plans to return. Maluha was not happy at all at Eric's insistance of building more bungalows. And I still wonder what happened to the second boat....with 2 they could still do excursions and airport runs.

I still want to return sometime, but gosh...I just don't know about having to deal with a full house. We were so incredibly spoiled when we went. We literally had the place to ourselves for 4 days and only one other couple for 1.5 days.

Maybe...we can all get together and rent that really cool house on Rangiroa. That looks like it could be a great time! :-)

That's just it Patti, they had two other boats that they used during our stay here, but either Erik doesn't want the others to take us out, or Junior and Elvina don't want to go without Erik. We never figured it out. Erik went to the airport everyday except Sunday, and that was the day with the worst weather (Erik was taking pictures of the waves on the lagoon side, they were that bad). Some people were pretty pissed that they went to the beach so much and that there weren't more excursions, like a beach picnic, bird island etc. We made the most of it though and had a great time, even with the rat that visited our bungalow every night and chewed on something new. I'm pretty proud of myself that I was able to go with the flow on that one. : )

LOL! A rat? Oh how funny! We never had one of those in the lagoon bungalow.

Wow, worser and worser ;-)

I'm so glad we went when we did! We shared Raimiti with one couple overnight the first night and then another couple overnight on our 6th night and that was it. Excursions every day except one as far as I remember. I'm sure it's still a great place to go, but we loved the solitude.

Carrieg, glad you had a good time. It's too bad though that things have gotten so congested there. I agree with Maluha, Erik should not have built more bungalows. It loses most of the intimacy of the resort. We had only 6 people when we were there and it was GREAT.

My family stayed in the oceanside bungalow last June. We loved the privacy and isolation. Anyone stay in the new oceanside bungalow? How is the placement in comparison to the older one? How is the privacy...can conversations be heard? What about neighbor views?
I remember that our excursions were limited not only by airport pickups/departures, but also by the weather. I hope they add a second boat. Raimiti "crowded" doesn't seem like a concept I can grasp. It was the best part of our FP trip.

Wow, too bad about Raimiti. I still would go back in a heartbeat if my family circustances were different. The boat excursions each day were a lot of fun. I guess something will need to be worked out to keep everyone happy.
