I'm making a note of all the recommendations, it's nice to hear if others have liked a place, means we'll be able to spend our time doing things we know we'll like. :)

On Moorea what's the going rate on average for a 3 course meal and wine? Just so I know what to expect.

Mauruuru!

probably $100-150. Just depends on how much the wine is. And where you eat. Aito's can get really expensive, depending on what the specials are for the evening.
I had coconut crab one night and it alone was around $80.00.

Especially the wines at Aito are outrageously expensive !
It used to be nice when it was still small and less commercial.
Make sure you check prices before ordering and if they suggest any "specials" do ask what the price is... otherwise the bill can be quite a surprise.

$80.00 for coconut crab! Wow, I guess this is ok for somebody like D. Trump! But, no, he always gets a bang for his buck!/\][

Around £70-£100 is what we've budgeted for so good to know we're about right.

When you say ask the prices do you mean most places don't have prices on the menus or is it just the specials you're talking about? :)

In better places, the womens menu doesn't have prices, while the mens does. Aito's does this. Most specials are posted on a chalk board with the price. If it doesn't have a price, ask. You don't want to be suprised.

Sorry for being late to this thread, but I notice no one has mentioned Carmeline's. This is a great place for breakfast or lunch. It's a short walk from the Pearl...I hope it's still there. A lovely outdoor cafe and pattisserie. My wife and I loved having brunch there and listening to some of the retired gentlemen chat in french. It was our favorite place in Moorea.

As has been mentioned, Te Honu Iti is very romantic. I loved the food, but we had service that was unbelievably slow.

I agree with Carameline's - great place for breakfast but there are better places for lunch. I also agree with the extremely slow service at Te Honu Iti, even for 2 very relaxed people in paradise. I thought the food at Te honu Iti was okay but not spectacular. However, the setting is nice. I would second Rudy's and Le Mayflower - can't go wrong with either one. La Plantation is also nice with decent food, good service and was a nice quiet dinner when I was there last year.
