Which of the following would you choose given these options:
A) 5 nts regular (or maybe premium) Beach Bungalow at the IC Moorea
B) 3 nts premium Beach Bungalow at IC Moorea and 2 nts Dlx Garden Bungalow at the Moorea Hilton
C) 2 nts OW Bungalow at the IC Moorea and 3 nts Dlx Garden Bungalow at the Moorea Hilton
Please help! I can get all of these for around the same price. I was leaning toward all 5 at the IC, but I'm having second thoughts based on recent reviews. We've stayed there before, but it was 6 years ago.

I'd go for A because you get to stay in one place and relax. Packing up and moving to another resort is just too much hassle in such a short time (one week at each would be worth it to me to have a different experience, but not 2-3 nights). We spent 7 nights in a beach bungalow at the IC Moorea (it's probably a premium one now) and loved it.

Well, did you like it 6 years ago? If so, then you will likely still like it. What I have noticed over the years is bad reviews have less to do with the actual conditions at the hotel and more to do with the individuals perception, expectation, and personal experience. If one bad thing happens, or one silly little thing doesn't meet their expectations (demands), then the whole experience is completely tarnished and in their eyes, the hotel is solely responsible for their bad experience.
I think changing hotels in mid-vacation is a bad idea. It just takes away from the relaxing part. It could ruin the better part of a day...at least the late morning/mid afternoon part. To have to pack up...check out...transfer...wait to check in (room may not be ready for a couple hours)...unpack....you are going to spend at least 4...maybe up to 6 hours to do all of that. If you only have 5 days there, why would you want to waste a half a day moving when you could be enjoying the island?

Thank you both for your replies. We did enjoy the IC 6 yrs ago, but then we're also tempted to try something new too. I was afraid the IC had gone down hill based on all the negative reviews they have been getting lately. We have a free night certificate to use at the IC (w/ a free upgrade), hence the 2 nights minimum there. I keep hearing so much great feedback about the snorkeling and lagoon at the Hilton, that I'm just really curious now. I guess my questions really should be:
Is the Hilton (and adjacent lagoon) significantly nicer than the IC to justify packing and moving just to try it out? Also, would it justify moving from a beach bungalow to a garden bungalow?
Would going there for lunch and some snorkeling do the trick or would that just make me jealous?!

Being in a beach bungalows at the IC is much nicer than being in a garden bungalow somewhere else (personally, I found the garden bungalow area just too large at the Hilton...you can be quite far from the water). Yes, have lunch & do some snorkelling at the Hilton (once or twice). I think that's a great compromise.

Why not different islands? you could stay at the Relais Mahana on Huahine for probably around the same cost.

I thought about that, but we'll already be visiting several different islands on a cruise before our stay on Moorea and really just can't afford the additional airfare to fly to another one.

A
You can go visit other properties if you want, but its not worth packing and unpacking, and losing most of a day, just to go stay there
