There is no cure, but a regular booster injection by returning will ease the painful symptoms often associated with this particular strand of flu. It's been nearly 2 years for us, but leaving several copies of our November 2009 itinerary lying around the house that we can glance at regularly certainly eases the pain and suffering.

We're already planning our next trip back, think we'll try see some more of the other islands next time. Spend the bulk of the holiday on Moorea and a few days on different islands something like that.
Ya see I have to start planning now so it feels like I'll be going back soon! lol

Daydreamer, welcome to the (TFPC) Tahitian Flu Patients' Club! lol
We will go there for "regular booster injection" in less than 2 weeks. Cannot believe this is going to be our 3rd Tahiti trip in less than 4 1/2 years.
Believe me, we have been to Maldives 5 times (5 different resorts on 5 different islands), Palau, Phuket Phi Phi Island , etc and there are no places like Tahiti, and we didn't see anywhere else like Bora Bora with seawater like the color of the water in swimming pool!

I love the acronim TFPC!! C'mon Yves - maybe change the name from Tahiti Explorer to TFPC?? After all - we are all patients suffering the same disease.

Peter2-I have wondered about the exact places that you have mentioned, so I am glad to hear that none of them compare to FP as they are either very expensive for me or a loooooong way to fly.

Fantastic report! Yes, you have the Tahitian Flu -- only cure is planning your next trip back... Next time on Moorea, drive around and investigate the pensions; you might be pleasantly surprised at what you can get for your money, and be able to stay longer!

Great report, Daydreamer! Brought back some nice memories of Moorea, we've also stayed at the pre-renovation Sofitel. I guess it is quite rare to stay 2 weeks in the same hotel in FP, we once stayed 7 days at the Relais Mahana in Huahine, and they just couldn't believe it! Other guests came and went after 2-3 nights.
