Just thought to let you know that as of August 1st (2009) Air Moorea won't take off until the plane is full.... so when scheduling keep that in mind as it may seriously affect your travelling and maybe bring a sleeping bag just in case

In a sense it makes sense...I have been on the flight with just 5-6 passengers. But what happens at night ...going back to Papeete to catch your flight? Surely they can't just not fly those flights if not full????

Wow, that will change a lot of things. When we were there last time, they hustled us onto an earlier flight because there were others on it (and the guy with the van waiting for us in Moorea was really happy to see us because he was picking up several people when we arrived, but nobody an hour later when we were supposed to arrive so it was good for him, too). Good thing they do fly every hour or so. I guess next time we'll make sure not to finish reading our books on our international flight in!

We never fly Air Moorea but for those that do, this could make for a scheduling problem for sure! and like Patti asked, what about the evening flight for international connections? Guess you'd want to get to PPT sooner than later on your day of departure.

Interesting. I have the same question Patti. We are scheduled for the 8:30 PM flight the night we arrive. As it is the last flight that day, I can't imagine they would cancel if not full. Or sit and wait until it was. Pohere, am I way off base with my thinking?

We've had our flight back to Papeete changed many times by Air Moorea. Quite often we have been booked on the last flight of the afternoon (around 6-ish) before the night rates take effect. And 3 of 4 times we've had that flight changed....once it was just cancelled!!! All the earlier and later flights were full and we had to take the ferry back. Not fun to have to scamble around like that last minute! Soo...I would not mind being on the later night flight (at a higher price) if we had to. But...I'd like to kow that we can actually make the flight back...or do you hedge your bets and take the ferry...something you have to know well in advance...as the last ferry is around 5pm.

DJ november is still a while away, anything can happen in between lol It not only concerns those taking int'l flights but for connecting inter islands flights as well! Air Moorea is taking various "economic" measures, they're now flying with 1 pilot versus 2 (which they have been doing since August 2007) and some flights during the day were already cancelled. Mind you, whereas before there used to be some 10 flights orso daily to BB there's now 4, so it's kind of all around

Sounds like what Air Tahiti Nui has been doing for the past several years. I've been reading the airline ratings on another website and a number of posters there are very upset with ATN for cancelling flights and ruining their connectins to local Tahiti flights and cruise connections; and doing the same thing on the way back to the States. Surely a sign of the times.

Joe,

We normally book the 6:15 p.m. flight from Moorea to Papeete for our connection to the ATN 10 p.m. departure for LAX, but now we are changing to the 5:15 p.m. flight, just to be sure we make it! We called yesterday -- Air Moorea is unable to answer any questions about this new policy/procedure over the phone as yet, as they have not started to implement it, and have no idea how it's going to work... Better to book at least an hour before you actually need to fly!

It was confirmed at the Temae airport Barbi as they nearly screwed up my flights, she then told me it it would be in effect as of August 1st... usually in situations like that they're not gonna say anything on the phone, just be aware though for your return flight
