Thanks for the heads-up, Poehere. We have definitely changed our tix to leave Moorea earlier (and at a time where the ferries are still running, in case they are holding up flights too long to make the international connection). I'll let you know how my son and his wife do on the afternoon flight back to PPT when he leaves here on August 8th.

Rodjune. We have already had our international flights changed twice - first they cancelled direct flights from Sydney tp Papeete, then they cancelled our flight day altogether. We are travelling in an unusual direction (PPT - Tikehau - Manihi - Taha'a - Bora Bora - PPT) so all of our not so frequent flights were thrown into array. We had to do a major itinerary rethink, but ended up only having to change the PPT stays from 2 at the start, 1 at the end to 1 at the start, 2 at the end just to line up all of the inter island flights with the international flights. Our return international flights always leave after midnight, so we always get a room at PPT at the end. IC do a good half night rate.

Okay, I'm confused....is Air Moorea the same as Air Tahiti? (I know they are a subsidiary of Air Tahiti.) We have a 11 a.m. flight from Tahiti to Moorea on 8/12. According to the travel agent, we are on Air Tahiti. Are Air Tahiti flights affected accordinglly?

It's hard to say for sure which your flight is on. Most of the daily flights to Moorea are on Air Moorea planes. But there are a couple flights a day that are actually on Air Tahiti planes....I think these are flights that continue on to another island after they stiop in Moorea. I have travel paperwork that has said Air Tahiti and they were actually on Air Moorea planes.

Soo...basically I can't answer your question. :-)

I'll take back what I said, upon email to Air Moorea last night I received a response back today to make a reservation for December 15th. They explained it was just too far in advance for their automated reservation system. They say they still fly hourly, so I'm guessing you won't be put off too long as long as you plan accordingly for a possible 1-2 hour delay until sufficient passengers can be combined into 1 flight.

Also, I have heard that if you are planning on one of the flights which are the logical connections to the major international arrivals (for to Moorea) or departures (for to Fa'aa) you will be no longer than 1 hour delayed, due to the numbers coming through. We are selecting the flight 1 1/2 hours after our ATN arrival.

I was in contact with them by email, but they have 'gone dark' for the past 4 days. Also, trying to check their website just now the message is it is not an active URL. So I tried Google and tried the URLs google gave me and all of them showed the same not active URL.

Anyone know what is going on? We are not planning to fly until December, but would like to know...

As of today, Air Moorea is still off the air. Poehere, have you heard anything about their website? The following is the error message I get:

This error (HTTP 404 Not Found) means that Internet Explorer was able to connect to the website, but the page you wanted was not found. It's possible that the webpage is temporarily unavailable. Alternatively, the website might have changed or removed the webpage.

Barbi, how did your son's flight back to PPT go on the 8th? Was the flight full, or did they make him wait until it was?

Just a quick update: My son's flight on 8/7 took off with 4 people on it: him and his wife, and two golfers returning to Papeete. We originally scheduled him on the 6:15 p.m. flight (to connect with the ATN 10 p.m. flight), but changed it to 5:15 p.m. when we heard there might be delays because of unfilled planes. It just didn't happen. He got off on time, an hour earlier than he needed to.

We have since heard that Air Moorea is not going to delay passengers connecting with an international flight, regardless of how full the plane is. So I don't think it will affect international travelers much, and will mostly be limited to mid-day flights.

Poehere I'm arriving Sat night, what else should we stock up on?
Good news about the flights, I haven't decided between the ferry and flying back to the airport prior to our flight home.
