Hi, I'm currently staying at IC Thalasso. Just a quick information: the grocery store opposite IC Le Moana is converted to a gift shop, and grocery items are no longer available. However, a new supermarket is located right next to Le Bounty restaurant.
The internet access is so......ooo expensive here in IC Thalasso. It costs XPF 8,000 for 24 hrs internet access, XPF1,500 for 1 hour and XPF 3,000 for 4 hours. Of coz I choose the cheapest option.

Isn't the market right next to La Bounty the one that has always been there, Tiare market? It's a market in front, and the gift shop in the back part of the store? Did they build a new one?

If I remember correctly the shop straight across from the Le Moana entrance was more like a souvenir shop with only a few small grocery items (bottled water etc). The other one that Patti is talking about is approx 5 minutes walk down the road near Le Maitai? Poehere would be able to confirm that for us :)

Yes, the one I'm talking about is past Le Maitai and right near La Bounty. That's been there forever.
I don't recall the other one that closed near Le Moana..I may have seen it, but I don't think I've been in it.

G&C is right. It was a trinket shop with some chips and ice cream bars. No real groceries. The one Patti refers to is the Tiare market.

Oh, sorry I didn't know the Tiare market has been there for years since I had never walked beyond La Bounty, but since this time the store opposite Le Moana is no longer selling grocery items (I remember it used to sell water, soft drink, beer, ice-cream, chips, snacks, etc), the whole store now aims for souvenirs (the only food we found was couple bottles of pringles chip), so we decided to walk a bit further to see if there were any places else selling grocery items and found this mini supermarket right next to La Bounty.
The weather is no good in Bora Bora now. It has been rainning almost all day long today, and scattered shower yesterday as well. Hoping for sunny weather tomorrow.

If you get to the Tiare Market early in the morning, they have the most delicious chocolate croissants. :-) They usually sell out pretty quickly though.

Now for the croissants... there is a pātisserie if you head to the left when coming out of the LeMoana and continue down the road until you see the Matira Snack on the beach, right across on the mountain side you have the bakery.... (no sign, just yummy smells!
THe store at the crossroad of LeMoana is just a souvenir shop, indeed le Tiare market has been there for ages and pretty good stock with pretty much same prices as in Vaitape
Weatherwise... just think about those who won't be needing to water the garden and after rain there is always sunshine!

Poehere, thanks for the info for nice croissants!
Weatherwise....the weather for today is even worse. The strong wind started from last night when we were about to sleep. The noise from the wind made us almost sleepless. It reminds me of the typhoon in Hong Kong few days before we left. The strong wind has been continuously blowing for the whole day and even now at night while I'm typing, I can still hear the strong wind blowing so hard. Of coz today it was very windy and cloudy. Yesterday luckily the weather was nice enough for us to join some excursions. Water around the emerald bungalows becomes very milky and the visibility for snorkeling is zero! Tonight when we went out for dinner at La Bounty, I saw many tourist wearing long sleeves. The weather is a kind of cold to wearing short sleeves. Next time we shouldn't come in August. The same thing happened in August 2007, it was as windy as now!

I looked and yesterday the temp in Papeete was 73 at 11:00 AM. Colder that Duluth, Minnesota which was in the 80's. Finally, a little reprieve for me from the Polynesian flu. But as hubby and i say, the worst day in paradise is better than a day in Duluth.
