We know what the Aranui 3 is, we've sailed her.

Bora Bora Cruises
TahitiTravel offers excellent deals for cruising the magnificent lagoons of French Polynesia.
We highly recommend the Bora Bora Cruises for luxurious intimacy (actually a v.good value compared to the cost of a stay at a 5 star resort) or the Regent Seven Seas Cruises Paul Gaugin for a deluxe but more traditional cruise experience.
Check our Cruises page for more information

Pago, figured you had. Glad you had a nice voyage. Maybe you can try the PG as it's great too. I think they are probably very different experiences though.
Thanks for the info PacAnd. Didn't know the PG was destined to end up "so far from home" and very happy she is staying in beautiful FP...!

It is good news. At least she will stay in FP for a while and its good for the Beachcomber. Now all we need is Mr Bailey to purchase ATN to get them going on the right track

According to my travel agent the sale is a good thing since the hotel management company (Regent) was having problems with the owners over their food budget. Grand Circle wanted to spend less than the luxury line thought was appropriate. Two questions: who will be the hotel management company running the ship and will the great crew stay and be well treated?

Actually is a lease with option to buy... in any case the group SA Pacific Beachcomber will run the ship and prob the crew will mostly remain the same as the local government has offered their full support for the change of hands of the ship, meaning Beachcomber will benefit from the same advantages in terms of taxes and fiscal regulations, foreign labour facilities (Fillipino crew) etc.

On another board a future cruiser wrote that within the past few weeks the transfer rate from the Int'l airport to the ship (5 km!) has increased from 100 to 260 us$... I certainly hope they'll arrange that otherwise as that is a pretty ridiculous price for such a short ride!

HMMMM - it happens that I am friends with the cruise director that pioneered the PG in FP. He, too, had problems with the people that bought the ships operated by Regent, and is working for another luxury cruise line.

I have no idea if he would want to work again on the PG, but I do know that he loves FP . . . and is a very good cruise director.

So, if coconut radio suggests that the new owners are looking for a cruise director, somebody let me know, and I'll ask the individual in question.

We're going on the PG in October while it's still run by Regent.

Anyone been on the Paul Gauguin Lately?
Just wondering if everything seems the same
with it winding down from being run by Regent Cruise Line.
