Surprisingly our flight out of LAX to Papeete was on time. (My last two flights with ATN were cancelled.) I usually get travelers checks cashed in at the bank at the Tahiti airport, but for some reason they had not gotten a rate that day and were unable to change our travelers checks. Spent the first night at the Hilton in Papeete. At 7:30 the next morning, there were drills and power saws going and our room was shaking, so we were glad to be leaving there. This was my boyfriend's first trip to Tahiti, and he was impressed with the grounds there at the Hilton. I told him that he hadn't seen anything yet. Our Air Moorea flight was on time and we got the room I had requested at the Moorea Pearl. I had beach bungalow #309(the one on the very end)on my first visit and I really enjoyed the view and the privacy. We rented a car at Alberts. They are really on island time there. Their hours were 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. They finally opened around 10:30 a.m. We had a nice ride around the island. We also took a 4 hour tour with Moorea Explorer. Our guide was Bubba, who I had first met back in 2006. I had requested him again as he was so entertaining. I wanted my boyfriend to experience as much of the island as possible. We were going to eat at Alfredos, but our concierge talked us out of it. She said that the chef had moved on and the food just was not as good anymore. So, we went to Rudys and thoroughly enjoyed it. We also had a lunch at the Blue Pineapple. We did have one frustrating experience. We went to the Maison Blanche, the souvenir shop set back from the road, by the Pearl. There was a couple at the desk talking to the lady working there. They did not appear to be customers. They were speaking in French and had been there for about 15 minutes. We had numerous items we wanted to purchase. I was standing by the counter waiting for their conversation to end. It was finally winding down and they started to walk away, then the lady working there called them back and they started talking again. After another five minutes, I just put down what I was going to purchase and we left. Our presence was not even acknowledged. Of course, we were able to find what we wanted elsewhere.
After four nights in Moorea, we were off to Le Tahaa for five nights. The beach villa(#51)was perfectly located, private with a great view, no OWBs in the way. After the second night, I talked to Jessica in guest relations as we were being eaten up by mosquitoes. The wind was not blowing much and the mosquitoes had really settled in. She offered to move us to a Sunset OWB (#48). It was wonderful even though there was a problem with the water main from Tahaa to the motu and we did not have water for several hours one day and one night. We survived quite nicely and the restaurants were still open. (They were operating off a reserve water supply.) The grounds were simply beautiful there and the turquoise water was magnificent. We took a tour of a vanilla and a pearl farm. Unfortunately we were rushed thru the vanilla farm and spent way too much time (in our estimation) at the pearl farm. We mostly ate at the restaurant on the beach. We made a couple trips to Tahaa to the grocery store to pick up a few supplies. However, on the second trip, the store was closed. It was on a Wednesday at noon and we had been there the day before at the same time. Very strange. We had room service a couple of times at the OWB and were surprised about the $10 delivery charge. There was also an upcharge of between $2 and $5 per item. Oh well, its only money.
It was a totally relaxing trip. My boyfriend has now been bitten by the FP bug and he is talking about going back again. He wants to return to Le Tahaa and I would like for him to see Bora Bora also. He said that he did not know that places like that existed, except in the movies. I was glad he enjoyed it so much.

I'm glad that in spite of some of the more unfortunate incidents that you had a good time . Fortunately your boyfriend is a Tahiti addict now as well and you can plan more trips.
