for start, i write from italy so sorry for my poor english :/

i'll be in BB in the since october 2 for 5 days, then 4 days in tahaa.

i have a few question for you, i hope you can answer..:

1) El Nino: i heard that this year is a particular year for the wheater... should i be concerned...? :)

2) I would like to rent small boat for 2 people and travel around the lagoon for my own, is that possile..? where is the best spot to catch a nice sunset (by boat i guess..). i'll be @novotel so sun goes down fast i guess i should go on the motu to get a sunset with the BB profile..

3) does exist an 1-day excursion bye helycopter or something to rangiroa..? how much that would cost?

4) some nice play to eat something local?

thank you so much :) can't wait to be there :)

bye!

tommy

1) yes it is, but don't worry about the weather no one can tell in advance what it will be like when you're here

2) is possible but better do to it with a guide as there is quite a lot of boat traffic and you'd need to follow the markers. Without permit motor max is 6 cv.
NOT advised to go out on your own on a rental boat after sunset. You will be able to get sunset pics with BB profile from Taha'a (depending where you stay?)
In BB itself nice place to watch sunset is from the BB yachtclub
rental boat René & Maguy, Matira (just past Hotel Maitai)

3) No does not exist but you could rent the helico, count around 1 to 1,5 mio Cfp 12.000 € (Helico is stationed in Tahiti in October)

4) around Novotel you have La Bounty, medium priced, Fare Manuia, more expensive, there is also a pizza take away
other restaurants will pick you up; Bloody Mary's, Kaina Hut, St. James, BB Yachtclub, Sunset Boulevard

Tommy,
Your English very good! Just wanted to tell you to have a great time. Bora Bora is so beautiful, all of your pictures will be beautiful. I thought I might suggest you find a water taxi to one of the motus (tiny islands making up the reef around the main island) and get some sunset photos that way? We'll just miss you---we'll be in BB October 10-17.

This is my first time back on this site in a few years. We've done trips with our children and grandchildren the past 4 years. But we have friends who are getting married in January and going to Bora Bora for their honeymoon so I thought I'd check back in here! We're so excited and happy for them.

Thanks for the welcome back, Patti. The couple met at church. He is a widower (with a young adult daughter) and she has been a single career woman. Both great people! When we received their wedding invitation they included a note about two registries. One is the Honeymoon. It allowed people to make gifts for various things they had chosen from a list of possibilities on Bora Bora. Since my DH and I have done the shark and ray feeding twice and it was so cool, that's what we got for them. Found out that we're the only people they know who have ever been to FP before.

What an interesting idea, Kathy Z. I'm not big on the 'fund our honeymoon' wedding gift idea, but if you can buy them an activity on their honeymoon, that seems far more personalized!
