Is anything going on with the Hotel Bora Bora renovation? We are hoping to go back in 2011 when they re-open. With the economy I wasn't sure what was happening.

Last I heard absolutely nothing was happening with the property. No demo, no re-build, no nothing. Given the present economy, I'd be shocked if anything happens with this property for several years.

Hopefully Poehere can come in and give us the latest update on the HBB.

One of the conditions "sine qua non" for Amman Resort was/is the deviation of the road so it will not cut the property and new resort in 2 as is the case until now... the BB community council has recently decided to work on that (not easy as they'll have to relocate certain private properties) however it is also a question on who will foot the bill... Enfin nothing will be done until at least spring 2010 so I think unfortunately for 2011 you'd need to find another location as the rebuilding will take appr. 2 years

We were worried about them closing and then renovations being delayed or put on hold. It is absolutely where we will want to stay, so we will put our trip on hold. Thanks Poehere for checking on HBB.

Well they closed and fired the staff (some are working at the FS), they have not started any demolition and they won't until the road prob is solved, which looks like has been partly... no official building permit has been put up for review yet either.

It really remains to be seen what will happen as we may have again a government turnover very soon (number 113... lol) if the coconut radio is doing it's job correctly, which, unfortunately, will be VERY discouraging for any foreign investor.

From the other hand the probable next government turnover is being "organised" in part by the mayor of BB (ex FP president) in which case obtaining permits and financial aid should be a "piece of cake".

Looks like the road will be deviated... so keep fingers crossed, for some action early 2010. Stay tuned!

If they can get the road away, then HBB will be the best located property on the planet.

If they can get this issue resolved and get the HBB updated, it will be IMO the best property to consider. Unless they mega size it, it was always an intimate setting to us. The location can't be beat and it is not on an atoll. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Poehere, if you hear anything I'd love an update. Thanks everyone.

HBB is such a lovely property. We never noticed the road noise when we were there. I'd love to go back but probably the rates would be way out of our budget after the remodel.
