I have found following information from the boards and here are my questions. Can somebody help me with this?

1) We will stay in sofitel Moorea for 2 days before our Princess cruise. We will arrive by Air tahiti at 6.30 am in ppt and then will try to catch the 9:15 am ferry from ppt to moorea. If can't will go with next ferry. From the forums, looks like the Champion market is close to the Moorea ferry dock? Can I just walk there from Moorea ferry dock and get some stuff for remaining 2 mornings before taking a scheduled transfer to Sofitel?

2) Looks like Ferry dock to Sofitel is just 2 miles? How much will the taxi cost? I have contacted Albert Tours for transfer but the first response is " it is hard to do transfers on boat days" Actually none of the 3 ships will be docked on those days. I do not want to rent a car. We will do Moorea tours on cruise ship day and will just relax in the resort on prestay.

3) We have 2 nights in Sofitel and we are thinking of trying 2 good restaurants for dinner (so want to save on breakfast and lunch). I have read good reviews about many restaurants which can pick us up. How about Sofitel's 'K' restaurant? Should we try 1 dinner there(did not see any reviews on this restaurant) or better go out on both nights?

4) We are somewhat limited in dining options. We eat chicken, lamb, eggs and fish (shrimps included) but do not eat other seafood items, crab, beef, pork, pig, becon, sausage etc. I could not find the menu on all the good restaurant's website which are discussed on the forum. Looking at our limitations, can somebody help me with 2 good restaurants? (I read shrimp curry, corsican style fish, grilled fish etc which sounds yummy). Even if we can find 2 main dishes, we are ok with it.

5) Will these restaurants pick us up for Lunch as well?

Although the Champion/Toa grocery store is relatively close to the ferry dock, it's about 1/4 mile away, and would take you too much time to walk there and back before catching a transport or bus that meets the ferry. If you don't want to rent a car (you could have it waiting at the Moorea ferry dock when you arrive), your best bet would be to hire a private taxi, ask that they take you first to Champion, wait about 20 minutes while you shop, and then take you to the Sofitel.

If you want to pre-arrange this with a private taxi operator, you could call John & Cecile on Moorea, at 77-57-56, ahead of time and arrange your pickup from the ferry. They, as well as other licensed Moorea taxi operators, are listed in the "Moorea Guide" pamphlet available at most resorts, at the airport, and at some shops. (I recommend John & Cecile because I know them personally, and they speak good English.) They could quote you a price ahead of time.

For dinner options from restaurants that offer a pickup service from the Sofitel, you might try both Aito (good fish dishes) and Alfredo's (for some meatless pasta options).

There's a pretty good but small store not too far from the Sofitel, called "Ester" best to walk past the tennis courts of the resort to the main road and follow down, past the airport road and gas station, it is not too far and prices are not too bad (closed between noon and 2 pm)

Nice place to eat in the vicinity of the hotel is Le Mahogany which has a pretty good menu, Le Cocotier (gourmet) or the resto at the golf club, le Miki Miki (which is right next door to the Sofitel and you could walk for lunch)

Thanks a lot. since we are there only for 2 days, we will need basic stuff for breakfast and we can easily walk to Ester.

BarbiJKM, you said that transfers from dock will not wait for us if we go to grocery. I was thinking of requesting transfer after 30/40 min of ferry's arrival. But just another question, do you mean Le truck? I read somewhere that Le truck will be available when ferry arrives. Can we catch Le truck from dock to Sofitel?

Also how much will be the cab fare from dock to sofitel? just a ballpark number will do.

I read this entire forum and shortlisted following 4 restaurants..will try 2 or 3 for 2 dinners and may be 1 lunch
1) Le Mayflower: Shrimp curry
2) Te Honu Iti :Fish with vanilla sauce or/and shrimp curry
3) Aito: Corsican style fish and shrimp options..
4) Le Mahogany: I could not find the menu, Poehere, do you know where to find one? or suggest some dishes?

You have the A list of resto's there. My favorite is Le Mayflower. The Curry Shrimp is great as is the Lobster Ravioli.

Mayflower is very good but from Sofitel at night a 40 minute drive...

Mahogany has no menu online, but it is a very extended one, offering chinese (chow mein with shrimp) traditional Tahitian dishes as well as French/international -lamb, grilled fish, raw fish, meat and poultry

The busses meet the ferries, so you could easily take it to Sofitel, 300 cfp/p.p (one goes East ward, one goes West ward, so check before you hop in)
A taxi would be around 1500 cfp

If you do not want the extra drive time from the Sofitel, I heavily suggest your two dinners at Mahogany and Le Cocotier. Both of these places offer dishes you listed and are great. Mahogany a little larger and more 'general', Le Cocotier smaller and much more personal and local/authentic. The most recent dinner we had at Le Cocotier the local gendarme collected there and had a big table (14 of them) for their dinner. That in itself is a great recommendation.

If you want to eat with a view and don't mind a little taxi time or the price, go to Te Honu Iti.

Ate at Mahogany one night and had their mussels in garlic butter for appetizer, and the duck breast for the main course. Was very delicious.

Also ate at Rudy's for several nights and their food was pretty good as well. I loved their mussel in garlic butter and I can say for sure its a bit salty...but its to my taste. Also had their fried seafood appetizer with the shrimp, octopus, and tuna. I was surprised they could deep fry tuna and keep its meat moist. Definitely worth trying. On another night I had escargot...same batter as the mussel and just as good.

If you go to La Mahagony, try the profiteroles for dessert. We've had them on two occasions there and they are the best we've had in FP.

Thanks for the input on Rudy's. We have never been there, but plan on one night there in out 3 nights at the Pearl in December. Did you walk? I cannot recall just how far it is, although I recall it is a little past town.
