Ia Orana. I've been back a month and finally have a rainy day to catch up on pictures and stuff. I am a budget traveller and stay in pensions and dorms most of the time, I also like to be as spontaneous as possible. I flew on Hawaiian Airlines (miles :))from Kauai to Oahu to Papeete. I caught Le Truc to the ferry dock the next morning. I started my visit to Moorea at Pension Motu Iti. This was my 2nd time to stay here it is quiet, comfortable, the snorkling is good, I went Kayaking when it wasn't too windy. Early mornings I would head over to the Hilton by Kayak, usually I was the only one out. Very beautiful. I walked up to Fruits of Moorea, really liked the ginger liqueur and the coconut rum creme( kind of like the Jamaican rum creme that I love), I didn't want to haul it around being the start of my trip, so hoped they would have it at the Duty Free at the airport - they did:) After 3 days of quiet, I took Le Truc to Nelson Camping. It was OK, very clean, but I could not sleep well because of the dogs barking. It was nice to be able to walk to the market, along the beach, snorkling was OK. Walked down and visited with Barbi and Randy for a few minutes. Think I'll stay at Moorea camping next time I'm on Moorea. It was time to move on. All week I'd been trying to coordinate a visit with my 20 year old son, it wasn't happening, I also wasn't feeling well. So I went on to Huahine, It was great to get there and stay at Chez Guynette again. I immediately felt better. Spent a few days in the dorm, then rented a little house for the rest of my stay. Last year I spent 3 weeks and felt like it was too long, well 2 weeks wasn't long enough so next year I'll stay 3 weeks. On my last day I flew back to Papeete, took Le Truc to the wharf where my son and I found each other right away. He spent a week at Haapiti surf lodge and had a great time with Petero and "the boys". Jeff and I had a dinner at Le Roulottes then took Le Truc back to the airport. It only rained on this last day in Papeete. <table style="width:194px;"><tr><td align="center" style="height:194px;background:url(http://picasaweb.google.com/s/c/transparent_album_background.gif) no-repeat left"><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/jmkutzer/FrenchPolynesia2009?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_ZvUWKE0DPAw/Ssk0k963kkE/AAAAAAAAAOg/SBiClUWvoUU/s160-c/FrenchPolynesia2009.jpg" width="160" height="160" style="margin:1px 0 0 4px;"></a></td></tr><tr><td style="text-align:center;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:11px"><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/jmkutzer/FrenchPolynesia2009?feat=embedwebsite" style="color:#4D4D4D;font-weight:bold;text-decoration:none;">French Polynesia 2009</a></td></tr></table> I had a great time, my Poly flu symptoms are better for the time being, I've picked my dates for next years trip, will try Sept. Aloha all, Joan

Joan,
Try the regular "reply" button (not the "quick reply") and then you can link to the http:// page through the buttons to embed your photos here. It won't work to just insert the link into the regular "quick reply" text.
Meanwhile, everyone can see Joan's EXCELLENT photos at this link:

Great report, Joan.
It's refreshing to see that we can find the true FP if we know how to get around and understand the local way of life.
We personally, save for at least a year (2 years for this new trek), but it's good to see that we could possibly go more often to cure "the flu" if we tap into the resources of this site and our own personal experiences. Get's the mind working, doesn't it?
Thanks again for a truley refreshing look on our favourite destination.
