A virus has gotten into my e-mail address book and is sending virus containing messages to those in my address book, which includes a few of you.

Please do not open and delete any e-mails that come from "suzanne redman" and do not have anything in the subject.

I've now removed everyone from my yahoo mail address book and saved you the old fashioned way on paper!

So totally annoying. I've changed my password, but I have no idea it that's enough to stop it. I actually had someone get my credit card numbers at the beginning of the summer. Not sure how they got them. THe first card I found out about was one that I very rarely use and don't ever access on-line. Don't even think I've ever made an on-line purchase with it.

I had my gmail account hijacked because I'd changed my password to something simple while I was in FP (with FP's weird keyboards, I didn't want numbers or symbols in my password). Big mistake...some spammer hacked into my account and sent out spam to everyone (that's better than a virus, but still...). Now all of my passwords have numbers or symbols in them. To make them really hard to crack, they should have upper & lower case letters, numbers and symbols and the letters should be random. I can never remember a password like that, though!

Spotbeagle, I got TWO emails from you with a virus in them. The email comes with no subject line, and just an http: address in the text section. The link takes you to something that appears to be virus-scanner, telling you that you have all these Trojans on your computer. Do NOT let this thing download!

I shut down my laptop and ran McAfee immediately after opening those emails. Looks like I saved it in time... but I had a TERRIBLE time getting the pop-ups to disappear from my screen, even after logging on after a reboot.

If your virus scanner is showing no infection, I would then recommend deleting ALL your temp files and cookies (can be done on IE through "tools" and "internet" options.

Meanwhile, no one should open an email that arrives from sredman... I think all of us on the Tereva itinerary might be on her mailing list.

Hmm...I didn't get anything from her (normally I'd feel unloved, but not in this case, LOL!).

Nothing here, either, but we did change our service provider and have a new e-mail. But I'll keep an eye on my Yahoo e-mail. Thanks for the heads up.

I knew about the first time a day or so after it happened, but didn't know about the second one until BarbiJKM emailed me earlier today. Thank you once again Barbi!

Pohere - check the "Tereva" e-mail and delete anything from me.

My password always had extra "stuff" so it wouldn't be easy. I'm now wondering if I hit an innocent website that someone has hacked causing the virus e-mails. I've taken everyone out of the e-mail address book, ran virus checkers, deleted cookies, history, temp files, etc. as I'd really hate for anyone here or any other contacts to get infected.

I'm finding there are a lot more 'bad' sites online than there used to be. In the past 2 days, AVG has popped up twice to warn me when I tried to access a bad site. I always close my browser & update & run AVG right away when that happens (to make sure nothing got through to my computer). And these are seemingly innocent sites (e.g. I play Scrabble online and was looking for words ending in 'z' and one site for that was infected). I wish these hackers would put their energy into doing good instead of trying to infect people!

I had my visa check card number stolen a few years ago by some idiots in Russia. What they do is they get the first four numbers for an active card issuer, and have an auto counter run until it gets a hit. They tried to buy $4000 worth of toner.
I was bummed, if you're going to that extent at least buy something good like porn or booze but no they tried to buy toner. The secret service told me there is a thriving black market for it
