What are you interested in? It's in a beautiful location. Great beach. Reached only by boat.

looking for reasonable price (100-150 $us) small,no-frills, but amazing location/water. happy to just spend time kayaking around and snorkling and soaking up the surroundings.

I feel that would be a good choice, then.

Just 2 nights? That only gives you 1 full day there. Why not stay for several nights so that gives you a chance to settle in and really live the experience?

well, i am still in my planning process so maybe i will need to think about changing to 3 nights. it's pretty tight itinerary-1 nite tahiti,3 moorea,2 huahine,3 bora bora,2 rangiroa and 1 tahiti. want to see as much as possible and will try to see if i can somehow eliminate the tahiti nites and add them to the islands i really want to see. if i can get the flights to work out i would definately eliminate my time on tahiti itself.

Try to eliminate the Tahiti nights to add nights to the outer islands if you can. It pretty much limits you to flying in on one specific day, becauase ATN currently has only 1 red eye flight to Tahiti. And you can easily eliminate that last night in Tahiti also....you might have to spend a LONG time at the airport awaiting your flight out...or just get a day room at one of the local hotels....but you shouldn't have to spend the night there.

thanks for the tips patti! i thought i read somewhere that there were no longer re-eye flights but i will check into it as that would be perfect and solve my having to use up 2 nights on tahiti problem!! it would be fabulous to have the extra nite on au motu mahare--can't wait!!

Perhaps you might try Air France. Arrives PPT around 4:45 am...ghastly time I know BUT the bonus is that it gets you onto the interisland flights by 6:45 am thus saving a night at that end of your trip in PPT. Granted, you must have a night in PPT on your return to the US but with that scenario, you have 1) the peace of mind that you are where you need to be in time to catch your flight back to the USA and 2) gives you a chance to experience the roulottes! There are several options for reasonably priced accomms in PPT like the Airport Hotel and Fare Suisse.
