We are currently planning to spend our honeymoon this June (mid-month) in the FP and are considering staying Te Tiare Resort for 4 nights in a Premium Garden Bungalow then going to BB at staying at the Sofitel Motu for 6 nights in a Deluxe Overwater Bungalow. (Also we were quoted about 3200 US $ per person is this competitive during the high season with airfare, transfers etc?) Will we be dissapointed in BB being overcrowded and too 'busy'. Should we be looking at much smaller islands? We really want someplace very quiet, with great snorkeling and good privacy- are we in the right place?

Sounds like a competitive quote for some great properties. If you're considering bringing the cost down, you may want to limit the number of days in Bora Bora to 3, and spend another 3 on a different island.
Some great islands for seclusion: Mahini, Taha'a, and the Vahine Island Resort. Mahini is the least expensive of the atolls, and the least visited. This way you can see it all...and possibly save a little.

Overcrowded is relative. We went last July and didn't think it crowded at all. Than we're from the NE and are use to the Alantic beaches. By comparison it's deserted. You want deserted go to Tikehau.

We just got back from Bora Bora and Tahaa. We stayed at le meridien in a premium overwater bungalow in bora bora which was ok. We rented a boat cruised around the island checked out other resorts and did alot of snorkling, also rented a car and drove around the island, reminded me of Kauai. Ate at Top Dive, Bloody Marys, Bamboo House, they were all pretty good.
The place we really loved was Tahaa, the Pearl Beach Resort was awesome, we also stayed in an ow bungalow there. If your looking for a place to go that is peacefull, tranquil, beautiful, has no crowds, and 100% top of the line, go to Tahaa's Pearl Beach Resort.

addwag,
Try looking at some of the many trip reports and comments posted on this forum about BB and the Sofitel Motu. Almost everyone seems to agree that the Sofitel Motu is THE PLACE for solitude and seclusion (i.e. No Children Policy; Only 30 total bungalows, etc.) Try asking specific people/users on this forum like "bsinutah" and "Pacific Andy", they seem very helpful and have recently been to FP. Have a great trip/honeymoon and remember that the planning is fun in and of itself.

I agree, the Motu is not going to be crowded. With only 30 total bungalows you will not be bombarded with people. To the best of my knowledge, the resort was full when I was there in November and I couldn't tell. Most people sit on the deck of thier bungalow soaking up the rays or kayak around to the other side of the island to snorkel the coral gardens or take a boat to BB and enjoy what the main land has to offer. You WILL NOT feel that the Motu is crowded.

"crowded"..."crawling with people" are concepts that are NEVER applicable to the resort in FP. Even when the hotels are full you will hardly see anyone around the resort. For starters most people stay in their bungalows and are seldom seen except maybe at breakfast.

I paid that much for 2 weeks accomodations. On BB, I stayed at "Hotel Matira" I loved it. We went in June 1998-weather was perfect! 80-85 during the day, almost the same at night-70ish. We had the deluxe beach bungelow-there are only 2 at this resort. Their food was the best I had on bb. We had the american breakfast-better than most I've had in the states. I also ate at Bamboo Room,& Bloody Mary's. My room at that time was 298.00 us per nite for four nites, wished I could have stayed longer! All the other places we stayed were 500.00 per nite-sofitel & I didnt think they were as nice, really. No mosquito's or bugs. 1 lizard & lots of chickens & rooster's fed them "Doritos" they loved it. Hardly saw anyone & no children!
