I remember discussing earlier that it might be easier to move to Tahiti once you are retired and on a fixed income (ostensibly not needing to work). Lucky for me I retire at 49!
It might not be Tahiti but I'll be looking to move to some sort of pacific island after retirement. Maybe Hawaii, maybe a commonwealth.
On another note, read "Sex Lives of Cannibals" for a hilarious adventure of a young American couple who move to Tarawa Kiribati.

That is a fun read, Sub. The author is from our city! He also wrote "Getting Stoned with Savages".

Hey Sub, how do you retire at 49? You work for the government?

OW- yes I've got that and his other book waiting for the next vacation to read!
Joe- nope, UPS. Been there since I was 18 and, thanks to the Teamsters, we have negotiated an excellent early retirement program.

Sub~ Thanks for the suggestion of "Sex Lives of Cannibals". It was hilarious! I don't remember the last time I laughed so hard reading a book. Paul and I both loved it.

I don't think it's so easy to live in paradise. If it was easy to get a cheap place and a job in FP, then FP would no longer be a paradise. It would be crowded and crime would be high.
