You might want to post your message on the FP forums at www.tripadvisor.fr, in French, using a free online translation. I just put your original post through www.freetranslation.com, and it came up with this (I don't know how grammatically correct it is, but the gist is there!):
Was tiger woods in the area?
LOL!
Barbi, I went ahead and posted it in the French forum too, as you suggested.
The hotel did e-mail me and said they think they know who it belongs to and they e-mailed them asking them to contact me. That was a few days ago and I haven't heard anything, so I e-mailed the hotel again last night and asked if they could try calling the couple.

Who knows what you will find in the ocean while you snorkel? A few years ago, on the island of Maui, I was looking for tropical fish and lo and behold, I saw a most unusual one--a man's wallet fish--very exotic and rare to see in the water. Yes, indeed, there was a leather wallet with ID cards, cash and other items inside. Now, who wears their wallet into the ocean while you swim??? Anyhow, I took the wallet back to our hotel, took everything out and dried it with a hair dryer. It looked pretty much good as new. Gave the wallet a good bath in fresh water before drying it off. Long story, short, I sent the wallet "home" to it's rightful owner in Louisiana, and six months later got back a reply that this person was blown away that this underwater wallet had found its way back home. Seems that the wallet had made its way back to Maui, where the person had moved to, after a detour to Louisiana in the USA. I had a nice note from the owner and an offer to come and see them in Maui, next visit.
Found another wallet in Seattle, at the Pike's Street Market. I mailed it all back to the owner and never heard anything from them. Hope they got it back ok.
Keep looking out for UFOs in the water...and return them to their owners when and if possible...it's the right thing to do.
Cheers! Bartender, another round for all my Forum friends.

Wow, TahitiOnline, that's a great story about the wallet in Maui. Maybe the guy didn't want to have it stolen so he put it in his bathing suit pocket? Year ago, when we were at Walt Disney World, we had to figure out what to do with our rental car key while swimming. Hubby put it in a ziploc in his bathing suit pocket and used a safety pin to keep the pocket closed. It fell out anyway. So there we were, 4 frantic people (2 adults, 2 kids) trying to find it before the current at the water park took it away (it was way, way down the 'river'....lesson learned--pin the key itself to your bathing suit and, if you put it in a ziploc, put something really colourful with it so you can see it floating by!).

ou might want to post this on the Trip Advisor forums too, under the "Moorea" section, as they have quite an extensive readership. ___________________________________________ Used Auto Parts | Used Car Parts
