We're going Jan 22-Feb6. I hope I like flying Air France. Their sale price has the best price I could get on ATN beat by $530 for the two of us. That $530 savings is enough to pay for our RT flights from Vegas to LAX, our flights (or ferry) to Moorea, and ground transportation. It just seemed ridiculous to pay the extra to fly ATN. They just aren't being competetive at all with their sales. The Air France sale was just too good of a deal to pass up....especially since it was good for up to a 15 day stay.
Now all I need to do is decide if we're taking the ferry or flying Air Moorea. AND...where to overnight on Tahiti. I think I'm going to look into Fare Suisse. We'll have to spend our last night on Tahiti to be able catch that morning return flight on Air France.
So this will be or first "totally do it yourself" trip. But I've been enough times now, I think I can piece it all together successfully.

That's great news, Patti. Yes, you've been enough times to do your own planning (especially since you're only going to Moorea and are familiar with all the steps to get there). Have a great time!

I'm really happy we decided to just bite the bullet and go. Given our job and health situations....should we be going???...probably not. But you know what...we have no idea what the future holds for us....financially and medically. We have the time...we seriously don't think Paul is going to find a job between now and then....my Doc has put any possibility of chemo on hold for the time being (at least until summer)....I have the vacation time...we have the money in savings....so we figured why the heck not!
As Nike suggests....Just Do It!

Seize the day, Patti! I'm so glad you are going at last. Fare Suisse sounds like a good plan, with their pickup and drop-off transport included. Since it will be off-season, you might want to wait until you arrive to decide between Air Moorea and the ferry. You might luck out with the "local" rate at Air Moorea, booking in person, and then they have the 600f transport tickets too... If no flights are available on your travel days, or if it's too expensive, you can always take the ferry with no res needed.

Barbi~ I know. I am really torn on what to do about the flights vs ferry. I'd prefer the flight....although I know the ferry is a bit cheaper. But I don't know if I'd want to chance going on a "walk up" deal. I kinda want to know I have something in place before I go. Plus if I take the ferry I will have transportation cost from the airport to the ferry dock. Transport won't be an issue on the way back because Beni at Fare Suisse will provide it. That sounds like such a great deal. I already have my rooms confirmed with him. He got back to us so quickly you wouldn't believe it!

Good for you Patti! I've been in Las Vegas for the last month or so and it's been rather cool here so I can understand the need to escape. Have a great trip.
