Anonymous Unregistered

Help! I'm planning a surprise trip for my husband's 40th birthday in March. I'm considering the Bora Bora Lagoon Resort or the Sofitel Motu. We love to dive and snorkel so access to sea life is important. We also enjoy fine accomodations - not "weathered." Also debating OW vs. Beach Bungalows - can you tell me about the Beach Bungalows at these resorts? Thanks so much!

We were at the Motu in October. It was just incredible. Only 28 units total very private. Access to the main island is on demand and a 5 minute ride. Not weathered at all. The beach vs the OW bungalows were the same except for the location (imho the beach bungalows were not in a great location and a couple of them were up in the trees sitting way up high) and if you can I would suggest the OW. It really adds to the experience and snorkeling right off your deck sure is nice. The Coral Gardens are on the other side of the Motu so you can swim, walk or kayak over there in a few minutes with the best snorkeling on the island. Not to say the other places don't have good snorkeling but not this good. The snorkeling excursions go to the Coral Gardens. The wife and I went there almost daily. I took some bread on occassion and was literally swarmd by fish it was incredible. There is a dive shop at the Marara called Mara Dive (75 yards up the beach) Eric the divemaster was just great. They are a sister company with Bora Dive center which was also top notch.

My vote would be for the Motu as well. We stayed for a week in November and adored it.
