Thanks for the info. My biggest fear is that they will take our snorkeling stuff. Maybe they don't like gack though.
Poehere, I think that would be appropriate airline clothing. Maybe you can start the "Poehere" line of air wear.

Until they can guarantee that their employees are not thieves, there is no way in h*ll I'm packing anything valuable in checked baggage. If they would implement real security measures instead of this new era of "duck and cover" we'd all be better off- the US still doesn't scan the cargo! Europe has been doing this for years.

Poehere, Pack as little carry-on as you can for the flight from CDG to LAX. And allow extra time for additional security measures (pat-down at the gate, and full-carryon search) at CDG.
It should be a bit easier from LAX to PPT, but who knows? (They did not treat you very well in LAX last month, and that was before the increased security measures started!)

I can testify that some of the pat down guys are worth looking suspicious for.
When they put me aside for a pat down because of my full skirt, I asked for the cute guy I saw.
But alas, they said I couldn't have him. Maybe you'll have better luck!

A friend of mine, a few years ago, was patted down by a woman who did a VERY thorough job of it. After she was done, my friend joked with her "the last time I let someone feel me up like that, I made him marry me!" The pat down woman didn't find it funny at all.

I guess I can't be a person who does pat downs because I find that really funny.

Years ago, I worked in a family business and we were travelling to the US for a sales meeting. As we were going through US customs, we entered as a family (my dad and my brother, and me), the customs guy looks up at us, and says, "you're a family?" My dad, starts as says, "the father", my brother chimes in "the son", and before I could speak, my brother and father chime in "and the holy ghost"!
We learned that day none of those guys can take a joke!

A Conde Naste help column from a year ago published a letter from a gentlemen who reported that his TSA locks kept disappearing off his luggage numerous times. LAX and I believe Denver have both busted a lot of luggage handlers (and I believe) TSA staff in sting operations. I trust no one and try to always pack lightly and hand carry my luggage.
