The e-mail we received from Tahiti Nui Travel states:

In response to your question regarding King Tamatoa Ferry right now we only have a timetable in French and rates in pacific francs. We are expecting for additional information from the company itself.

The boat will be operating in March 2010, however the fixed date is still unknown.

And:

Dear Cath and Gary

Yes it is 10.000 pacific francs per pax and one way. Yes 20.000 pacific francs per pax, roundtrip to Bora Bora for “VIP seats”.

Best regards

Lorna

We've got our local TA looking into it at the moment and as soon as we hear anything we will post it here.

20.000 round trip is a hell of a deal if you're only doing Moorea and Bora. It would be an interesting/pretty ride.
Any idea how long the trip is from Papeete to Bora? Their "schedule" leaves much to be desired. Is it really only an hour?

I'll tell you what...if the seas between the islands are any where near as rough as they were on my way back to Papeete from Moorea on Friday...there is NO WAY I'd take a ferry that far. I realize the seas were still a bit on the rough side from the storm that had just passed. But...OMG...it was ALMOST too much for me. If the ride had been 10-15 minutes longer, I would have lost my lunch for sure.

My understanding was that it went from Papeete to Huahine to Raiatea to BB - and the trip between Huahine to Raiatea was one hour, between Raiatea to BB 1 hour and I'm guessing a few hours between PPT and Huahine?

I thought I had read the entire duration from the time it left Papeete til it arrives on Bora Bora is 6 hours.
