I was just thinking the same thing (she must have made it...or else she's still wandering around the airport waiting for a flight, LOL!). I'll bet she's having a great, relaxing time on Cooks Bay right now. Sigh, and to think I decided to go dogsledding and snowshoeing in March instead of going to FP!

Ah, I can picture Patti & Paul sitting on their OWB patio at Club Bali Hai, sipping Tahiti drink at sunset!

A moderate tropical storm (Nisha) is approaching FP, according to Tahiti Presse: http://en.tahitipresse.pf/index.cfm?snav=see&presse=28414

I hope it does not affect Patti & Paul's vacation!

A day or two of rain won't upset them, I'm sure. I hope it doesn't last longer than that. They're nicely sheltered on Cooks Bay so they might not feel it the way the more exposed resorts will.

I heard yesterday that the bays were already chocolate brown... the storm is supposed to arrive tomorrow (Saturday).

Storm protocol at CBH moves everybody into the main building. Occupancy is probably low, so folks won't have to share with strangers this time.

Is it my imagination, or are tropical storms becoming a more frequent occurrence in FP?

It looks like this will just be a nasty rain storm; update from Tahiti Press here:

Tropical storm Nisha downgraded

(Tahitipresse) - Tropical storm Nisha has now been downgraded and will pose no major threat to French Polynesia, the French High Commissioner's office in Papeete announced Friday morning.

The effects of what is now a moderate storm will be less important but usual precautions still need to be taken, the High Commissioner's office added.

The forecast still warns of unsettled weather over the week end in French Polynesia's Society Islands.

There could be occasional heavy rain in the Leeward Islands, which include Bora Bora, Huahine, Raiatea, Taha'a and Maupiti.

A big swell is also expected in the Society Islands until Saturday, according to Météo France.

Meanwhile, schools were closed in the Cook Islands Thursday (Tahiti time) as people prepared for the arrival of Nisha.

There were strong winds, heavy rain and rough seas, but there are no reports of major damages or victims so far in the Cook Islands.

Nisha also affected American Samoa without causing any damages.
