New here and needing some help with activities in BB

I have spent several days in the forum looking at different information, but still have several questions that I could not find a answer on. To say the least I am very exited as I am going to St.Regis BB in march 15 for my honeymoon. After reading some threads I went ahead and I squeduled a tour with Keishi for the private motu picnic on the 17th of march. I am looking in to booking 2 other activities, and my fiancé loves deep sea fishing, but he is very picky as he wants to make sure the experience is good and they got good equipment, since we had such a bad expirience when we went to the Dominican republic, so I wanted to know who you would recommend for me to check out to possibly book a half a day with them.
Second thing is that I hear over and over that sharks are like such a common thing in BB, and I am TERRIFIED of sharks, I mean I understand that they are use to people and that they get fed so often they are not interested in you, but has there truly not been any shark attacks lately? and do many roam around the Bungalows? of course i know there everywhere but some places more then others, so just curious.
And then last, I wanted to book another activity and I read about the underwater submarine, any info I can get on that would be great (Contact/info) or anything else you think that can be pretty similar.
Thank you in advance, I truly appreciate all your help and feedback.

The only shark attacks I've heard of in FP in the lagoons have been people holding fish in their hands (the guys who feed them on the shark feeding tours...I think sometimes if they're holding the next piece behind their backs & don't see the sharks coming, they don't know to let go of the fish, but this is really uncommon). You really don't have anything to worry about. I was worried about them when we went, too, but watching them in the water at a ray-feeding (we happened to be passing in an outrigger canoe) and seeing that they didn't even approach when food was offered to the rays made me realize they aren't the aggressive kind. Since then, we've been in the water many times with sharks (both on a shark-feeding expedition and, more often, when they just happened to be around) and they don't pay any attention to you. In Fakarava, I swam into a bay by myself after a drift snorkel and there were 7-8 sharks milling about. It was a very weird experience but none of them paid any attention to me. Personally, I never saw any near our bungalows, but I suppose they might from time to time. We did see a stingray go past our bungalow on Moorea (very cool!).

We did both the picnic with keishi and the submarine excursion while staying in Bora Bora a few years ago.
I don't remember the name of the company that ran the submarine tour. We booked through the hotel, so if they are still in operation, you could do the same. The submarine tour for us was on a Sunday, which worked out great. We scheduled and paid for the "group" tour first thing in the morning. We were the only couple, so we essentially got the private submarine tour at a cheaper price. Since neither of us are divers, this was a great way to see the reef on the ocean side of Bora Bora.

Hi Michelle, definitely do not worry about the sharks because they really are not interested in you!!
As far as your activities goes, I would personally wait until you get there and see what you feel like doing when you wake up each day. The occupancy rate at BB is still fairly low at approx 45% so you won't miss out on your tours etc.
How long will you be at the St Regis for? My suggestion would be to schedule some days where you do nothing (especially when you are staying at such a beautiful resort) and just soak in the colours of the lagoon and Mt Otemanu.

Thank you so much for your responses, i will be there for 4 days (Not long i know) but since we knew that for those 4 days we would splurge then we rather stay a shorter time and not worry about money by staying a long period of time. We will be staying at a Premier overwater villa and the 4 days will be at the St.regis and i am supper exited, i have dreamed about going there for a very long time :) Thanks for the link, i must of searched for it wrong as i could not find it prior to this. And yes i probably will book everything else when im in the resort,i guess my concern is them making the price allot higher just because i am booking it thru them. The submarine its only 45 minutes and it looks like something That we both would enjoy, so i will probably for sure book that. The sharks..well hopefuly i will get over this mayor fear i have with them, i think just seeing them close is pretty thrilling i just don't know if i will jump in the water since even when i watch jaws my heart wants to come out :) but who knows everything may change once im in Paradise :) Thanks again!

If you go on a shark-feeding and ray-feeding tour on Bora Bora on an outrigger canoe (they're motorized), the passengers/guests stay 'behind' the outrigger and the guy who feeds them goes out further. You feel safer behind that outrigger for some reason. Once we'd done that, we were comfortable being in the water with black-tipped sharks elsewhere (though we did get out of the water when an unknown larger shark came up to us while we were snorkelling with no locals around to identify it for us). It turned out to be a lemon shark and we would have been safe in the water with it, but we didn't know that at the time. The black-tips are the most common sharks in the lagoon and we felt safe with them.

OW, I think you mean black-tips? Don't want to confuse someone new to FP that's shark shy.

Ack! Sorry, you're right. Of course they're black-tips. I really should learn not to post before my morning coffee! I'm going to go edit my post so nobody gets the wrong idea (I don't want them even reading it!).
