"What about Hotel Hibiscus vs. Moorea Fare Miti?"
Oh my gosh, you have to take everything I say with a grain of salt because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Fare Miti, but it is not the cat's meow for everyone!
We have been staying at the Fare Miti location for more than ten years (before 2005, it was part of Moorea Village), and we are about to leave in a few weeks for a monthlong stay there.
I like Miti's bungalows better than Hibiscus -- they are bigger, airy, and each has a wonderful large terrace with a view of the lagoon, even from the garden bungalows. I like the Miti beach better too. I love the proprietors Celine and Laurent and their kids!
ALL of Miti's bungalows have equipped kitchens; not all of Hibiscus rooms do.
Here's the biggest difference: Hibiscus is a "hotel" -- it has daily housekeeping, an on-site restaurant, and a small pool. Fare Miti is a "pension" with very basic services. You will make your own bed and sweep your own floor. There is no restaurant, though Celine has a very basic stock of supplies on hand for purchase at reception, and has made arrangements with a local restaurant for lunch & dinner items to be delivered to the bungalows with a pre-order, at reasonable prices.
I have lots of photos of Fare Miti -- just email me at BarbiJKM@aol.com and I'll send you some if you are interested!
