Here is the deal, we have a choice between a superior beach bungalo at Hotel Bora Bora or an Overwater bungalo at Sofitel Motu for 4 nights. The price difference is only 500 USD more at HBB. We will also be staying at the Sheraton Moorea for 5 days in an overwater bungalo. Which would you choose and why???
Any help appreciated.

Chase...
O-V-E-R-W-A-T-E-R B-U-N-G-A-L-O-W. (doesnt that just sound great?)
I my self have not stayed at either property but from the feedback that I have read, the S.Motu sounds wonderful. And the thought of being in a overwater bungalow just gives me chills of joy. Wake up, take a swim and lay out on your own deck. I am sure the HBB will have a nicer room but to what degree nicer? Enough to sway you away from living over the water? I dont want to sound like I am pushing you (OWB)(OWB)(OWB)(OWB) so I will stop talking. (lol)
I will be leaving for BB on the 1st of Feb and I have booked my self at the S.Motu. I have plans to visit the HBB and will be taking a tour of the property (i am a travel agent) along with the other hotels. I will try and give you a report of what I thought. When do you leave?
HM (I am so excited to go, i can hardly stand it).

happematt, I hope you have a great time. I wish I were going again.
Chase, We did stay in an OWB at the Motu and it was fabulous. We however met some new friends who stayed in a front row beach bungalow at the Marara and loved it. Of course, they were into the beach and sand and I am not. So the OWB worked perfect for me.

we will be going in May. It is really just a tough decision. OWB is nice, but just the name of HBB is a great selling point, and we will be spending 5 nights in an OWB at the Sheraton in Moorea.

OWB. For sure. And while I'm sure the HBB is lovely, the Motu was absolutely perfect. We had a great OWB there. The snorkeling is great. Feeling relatively secluded was great. There's nothing like getting up in the morning and jumping off your patio straight into water.

Definately stay at the HBB. Everyone knows that it is simply the BEST. We have stayed there and I believe there is no way the Motu is up to the same high standards of the HBB. If all of the places were as great as HBB, this chat room would not exist. That is why there is never a negative thing said about HBB. Everyone on this site seems to love the Motu, but they obviously didn't stay at the HBB. If you have never been to Bora Bora, wouldn't you feel much more at ease knowing the resort is great rather than hoping it will be satisfactory?

we are also doing the same split of bora bora and moorea, and i was also doubting the motu-- but i have only heard wonderful things and am told it cant be beat. why spend $500 extra for the other room when you could use it somewhere else, that is what i think!?! Have fun-- we are also going to travel in may...perhaps we'll cross paths

I believe HBB does not have a TV, I need to see my ESPN daily.

Despite what Tim2 has to say, I think we have ruled out HBB simply because we do want to stay overwater. Unfortunately, the NUI has once again emerged as a possibility. Now it seems to be between OWB at the Motu and the NUI.
