Thanks Patti, I am just about to get Jan Prince's book out again and read up on Fare Suisse.
Can you believe I had just about worked out our itinerary and now there is no flight from Huahine to BB on Wednesdays (according to winter schedule 2009/2010)!!!

It looks like he has built some new rooms since Jan's last book and since he created his website. I know the room that I stayed in (Raitea) and one other that I saw (Tahaa) were brand new.
It's really quite nice. And very clean and comfortable. Obviously there's no pool or restaurant or anything. But do you really need all that stuff if you're just spending the night after you arrival or before your departure? He has Hinano...what more do you need?...and breakfast (if you want). I think it's great for a one night stopover. Not sure I'd stay there for multiple days though.
Probably the only downside is the location. It's not on the water. It's in the middle of town, but up on a hill on a gated road, away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. But again, if you're just sleeping there one night, the location really isn't really an issue.
And like I said, by including the transportation both ways, that's like $50-60 savings right there! Save your money for the outer islands.
I have a few pictures of it. I'll post them when I get around to it.

Thanks Patti, I just read in Jan's book that it is just up the hill from the Champion Supermarket on rue du Commandant Destremeau and I am pretty sure we walked to that same supermarket (just maybe 5 mins walk from the Robert Wan Pearl Museum).
How far do you reckon the walk is from Fare Suisse to that supermarket (if you remember) because we found a 5 litre Tahiti drink there!!

LOL! I didn't walk it, but we did drive it. I'd say it's about a 5 minute walk. Down the private gated drive and then 2 long blocks.

5 litres? Could be worth the walk? Even if it IS uphill.

All depends on what you need the 5 liters for? Can you take that much home with you? Or is this to fuel yourselves for the rest of your trip? OR.....you plan to drink all 5 liters the night before your flight? Heck in that case, you won't need a plane, you can just fly home yourself! LOL!

The only reason we would buy the 5 litre cask is because they don't have 10 litre casks!

Gary and Cath are Aussies!! I never book in time to get a room at Fare Suisse. It seems ideal for an overnight stay.
