Fantastic report, Patti -- While reading it, I felt like I was there with you through both storms (and all the rain)!
Nice report on Fare Suisse too -- have you added it as a hotel review on TA as well?
I hope these storms blow out for good before we leave for Moorea in March, but, as you said, when one is not a first-time visitor, the storms don't "ruin" our time in paradise!
I'm glad you made it safely home on schedule too.

Patti,
For our own edification, I looked up the current list of Pacific cyclone names that are being used this year. Here's what comes next!
Nisha Oli Pat Rene Sarah Tomas Usha Vania Wilma Yasi Zaka

Lets hope we don't see names any further down the list than Pat, much less Zaka!

Eperera~ I ALWAYS have the..."when life hands you some lemons, don't make a sour face, make lemonade" attitude when on vacation. Why complain, it doesn't help any. Just make the best of it, find the good stuff, and focus on that part. If you focus on the negative, it will surely ruin your stay and your memory of it.
I see too many people come home complaining so much the silly small stuff that went wrong....you'd never know they actually had a mostly good experience.

Thank you for taking us on your trip. We really felt we were there as you described the increasing intensity. And what a great adventure! I'm very glad there was not too much damage. And the next time we go we will always keep our sliding door shut at night. We thought only the cats would come in, and shudder at the thought of that enormous crab. We stayed at 41 last year, and really enjoyed it out there. Can the little path to the outside bungalows be restored? I'm sure Tehai can fix it. With Hiro tours gone did you see Bruno at all? Hopefully he's doing okay.
Thanks again for sharing your great vacation.

Thanks for the great trip report Patti (and we also love all the paragraphs!! (lol)
Also, a quick question - how big do you think the swell was on the crossing from Moorea back to Papeete?

godzzla~ Yes the path can be restored. It was only the last part that washed away....maybe the last 10-12 feet or so. It looked like most of the sand ended up in the back yard of the private houses! LOL! It'll just take some manpower and several buckets of sand to fix it. As soon as I get around to getting my pictures posted, you can see the damage.
And...sadly Tehai has ALSO retired! And you could tell! NO ONE raked the beach down at the annex area the entire time I was there! He used to do it every day!!! I swear, pretty soon there will be no one left there! :-( If Olga and Georgina ever leave, I'm leaving too!
Also, sadly, I did not see Bruno. I love Bruno. What a sweetheart he is! I heard 2 different (but similar) stories about him. Both said he had a leg injury. Some sort of serious swelling in his leg. But not life threatening or anything. One version had him on Raitea and another said he was still on Moorea. But in either case he was not currently working with Hiro. Not sure if he will be going back with him or not. The few times I saw Hiro's boat going out from where it is normally docked (near the Mobil station) Hiro was driving it. So many bad stories about Hiro...personally I hope Bruno does not go back to him. And honestly, without Bruno, I'm glad Hiro's is no longer operating out of CBH. They are now referring guests to Albert's Tours across the road.
Another interesting tidbit. Matahai (the owner of the Blue Pineapple) is now also the manager of CBH....Rose's old job. Jay is training him to run the day to day operations. Not sure what I think of that yet.
