I am trying to book my honeymoon stay at BB Sofitel Motu and would like to give the TA room #'s but I am having a hard time figuring out which are the treetop bungalows. The hotel states there are 4 treetops and 6 beach bungalows. I assume they are referring to 104 - 107 as treetops. Others have said 108 - 110 are treetops. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I am looking at this map: http://www.jamiedoris.com/travels/fp/album/41/

104-107 are the treetop bungalows. The walk way to the lookout point at the top of the island is right behind those bungalows.

Does anyone have any comments they could share on the Treetop bungalows at the Sofitel Motu. Has anyone stayed in one? Was there any problem with bugs? Any insights would be welcome.

I remember someone posting several months ago about staying in a treetop bungalow. Maybe if you do a search on this site for treetop bungalows you can read what they said about it.

Definite problem with bugs. We were in an OWB, but we hiked up to the top of the hill on the motu, during which we passed by the tree-tops. We were eaten alive on the hill. There were no biting bugs in or near the OWB.

When I stayed in a treetop bungalow at the Motu last March, I found absolutely no bug problem up on the hill. Bugs, yes, there were plenty, it's rather lush landscaping, and I would think that to find NO bugs would suggest a problem (with excessive pesticide use!). We found absolutely no bugs in the bungalow itself, however. Nor did we find bugs out on the bungalow deck- perhaps the breezes (from which the paths up to the bungalows are somewhat sheltered) did the trick there.
Hope this helps! We loved the novelty of the treetop bungalows, and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Karin (leaving in 2 weeks for my All Atoll Extravaganza! Fakarava/Rangi/Tikehau, here we come!)
